Location: Bellevue, WA Job Type: Contract Work Model: Hybrid (Primarily Remote) Schedule: 40 hours/week

System One is seeking a highly motivated Plant Integrated Analysis Engineer to support the development of advanced sodium-cooled nuclear reactor technology. This role will focus on plant-level thermal-hydraulic analysis, transient modeling, and control system performance to support reactor design, safety, and operational excellence.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll collaborate with safety, instrumentation & controls (I&C), and system design engineers to model, analyze, and validate complex plant systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain RELAP5-3D models for steady-state and transient one-dimensional hydraulic network analyses.
  • Perform plant-level thermal-hydraulic analyses for normal operating conditions, upset events, and emergency scenarios.
  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize plant control strategies and component-level control systems.
  • Perform first-principles engineering calculations involving heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Analyze plant-wide transients to support operational strategies and reactor design improvements.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary analyses involving sodium, molten salt, and non-condensable fluid systems.
  • Collaborate with system, component, fuel, safety, and I&C engineering teams.
  • Support the development, validation, and improvement of analytical methods and modeling approaches.
  • Prepare technical documentation and communicate analysis results to cross-functional engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience using thermal-hydraulic system analysis codes such as RELAP5 or TRACE.
  • Strong experience performing one-dimensional hydraulic network and transient thermal-hydraulic analyses.
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience modeling plant control systems and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C).
  • Background supporting commercial or advanced nuclear power plant design or operations.
  • Experience developing or improving analytical methods and engineering models.
  • Experience working within a highly regulated engineering environment.

Additional Information

  • Travel: Up to 5%
  • Work Environment: Primarily remote with occasional onsite collaboration.
  • Physical Requirements: Standard office environment with the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
