Job description

We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist for assignment in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The selected candidate will perform technical and regulatory compliance work supporting an Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP); inspecting industrial and commercial facilities, monitoring wastewater discharges and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
This position has a pay rate of $24.21/hr
Responsibilities
- Assists Environmental Compliance Manager in recording, monitoring and reporting of compliance records
- Performs grease/sand trap inspections and maintains FOG hauling manifests and reporting; Complete all annual inspections prior to end of contract year
- Assists with maintaining current list of industrial users and has open communication channels with each
- Conducts and documents inspections of industrial users
- Schedules and conducts or coordinates sampling for the purpose of compliance and surcharge monitoring
- Assists with tracking and interpreting pretreatment program regulations
- Assists with identifying requirements of POTW and industrial users
- Assists with writing and issuing discharge permits
- Assists with environmental compliance water sample collection, maintain chain of custody documentation and delivery to analytical laboratories
- Reviews industrial process changes and needs that may affect discharge to POTW
- Assists with recommending revisions in local pretreatment regulations and the POTW pretreatment program to keep them current with federal requirements and to meet the process needs of the POTW
- Assists with reviewing self-monitoring and other monitoring data and determines compliance status
- Assists with calculating and reporting surcharges for high-strength loadings (if applicable)
- Assists with developing or provides assistance to client in development of Enforcement Response Plan
- Assists with developing technically based local limits
- Assists with providing technical assistance to clients in determination of appropriate enforcement actions
- Assists POTW operations department in diagnosing process problems and identifying the source
- Assists with preparing the IPP Annual Report and others as required regulatory requirements
- Attend company requires trainings pertaining to Industrial Pretreatment Program
- Performs other duties as required applicable to this job position
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Drivers License
- 1+ years experience related to Industrial Pretreatment Programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
