Summary
The Safety Coordinator leads Positronic's occupational safety program and selected compliance activities. This visible, hands-on role works across the plant to reduce risk, strengthen accountability, and embed safety into daily operations. Reporting to the Global Compliance & Risk Manager, the coordinator partners with Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, Quality, and the Environmental Supervisor to ensure a safe environment. The role will also assist with projects involving risk management, emergency preparedness, sustainability, business continuity, and disaster planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and continuously improve the occupational safety program and ISO 45001-aligned management system, including annual objectives, performance measures, management reporting, and integration into daily operations.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA General Industry, NFPA, emergency-response, workers' compensation, return to work program, company, and other assigned requirements; update policies, procedures, training, and records as requirements change.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, observations, and hazard and risk assessments; maintain practical controls for JSAs/JHAs, LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, chemical safety, ergonomics, and corrective-action closure.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage; complete root-cause analysis, track corrective actions, and coordinate workers' compensation and return-to-work activities with Human Resources.
  • In addition to traditional occupational safety responsibilities, this position will support selected regulatory compliance initiatives and special projects, providing opportunities for professional development and exposure to broader compliance functions.
  • Lead and document appropriate training, lead the Safety Committee, and coach employees and supervisors to strengthen reporting, participation, accountability, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain OSHA records, safety data, training and inspection records, dashboards, and corrective-action tracking; analyze trends and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate emergency drills, first-aid/AED readiness, contractor and hot-work safety, industrial hygiene, insurance loss-control visits, company audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Partner with the Environmental Supervisor on overlapping EHSS matters.
  • Support selected regulatory audits and compliance projects involving risk management, business continuity, disaster planning, and sustainability under the direction of the Global Compliance & Risk Manager.
  • Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Regulatory Compliance, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of safety or regulatory-compliance experience is required; six or more years is preferred.
  • Experience with hazard and risk assessments, incident investigation, safety-program implementation, ISO 45001, and computer-based health and safety tools is preferred. Equivalent education, certifications, and experience will be considered.
  • Experience within a manufacturing facility is strongly preferred.

Physical
  • Frequent walking and standing in office and manufacturing areas, with occasional climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, reaching, and use of hand tools or measurement equipment.
  • Regular computer use requiring hand and finger dexterity and the ability to identify color-coded safety labels and other visual safety information.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment and be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions
This position may involve exposure to elevated noise levels, dust or airborne particles, moving equipment, and chemical substances in a manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards, NFPA and emergency requirements, hazard and risk assessment, and manufacturing controls including LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, chemical safety, and ergonomics.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, safety-management systems, Microsoft Office, and computer-based health and safety tools. Environmental and sustainability knowledge is preferred.
