Job description

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we continue to expand our services & locations, our community has grown far beyond Paris. Position Summary:

A Patient Services Representative (2) is trained to work in clinic registration areas across all patient service departments. Establishes patient accounts, gathers billing information, insurance cards and guarantor information. The Representative (2) is responsible for collecting co-pays and past patient balances and keeping a balanced drawer. Stays up to date on all current insurance information and changes. Obtains appropriate signatures as needed. Directs patients to the appropriate department for necessary services. Immediately notifies advisory nurse of a potential critical patient. Assures all information collected is kept confidential per HIPPA.


Essential Functions:

  • Register patients obtaining the necessary personal, insurance, and other data required for proper tracking and billing.
  • Verifies insurance coverage with carrier or employer, via payer sites and relays changes to authorization staff.
  • Schedules patient appointments for providers as necessary.
  • Answers basic insurance/ financial questions and escalates further questions to the appropriate department.
  • Responsible for taking payments on co-pays and outstanding balances along with keeping a balanced cash drawer.
  • Assist with answering patient and staff calls to help on anything needed. 
  • Escalates patient concerns to the lead or Patient Access Manager

 

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the Foundation’s goals and objectives.

 

Position Requirements:

  • High school graduate is preferred.
  • At least one year of general office experience; required.
  • Excellent customer service skills; required.
  • Completed clinic training competencies.
  • Previous healthcare experience; preferred.

 

 

Pay Range:

  • Pay ranges from $15.250/hour to $20.979/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)

Hours: Monday- Friday 7a-4p
