Job Description:

Performs a full range of imaging procedures under the appropriate levels of supervision and operates all imaging equipment in assigned department. Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics). Willingly learns/adapts to new technologies and protocols and helps develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students. Performs patient assessment pre and post procedure. Utilizes effective questioning strategies, listening and speaking skills, and applies nonverbal communication techniques as appropriate during patient communication. Utilizes proper positioning criteria and technical exposure factors, performs all required imaging projections for given procedure. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. Evaluates images for completeness, diagnostic quality and utility, and recommends additional images as required. Repeats any view that fails to include all required anatomical structures or lacks proper contrast and spatial resolution. Completes assigned exams in a timely manner. Keeps workflow coordinator informed of availability and status of all pending exams. Utilizes PACS equipment. Confirms proper exam/patient assignment before releasing images to PACS for interpretation. Operates and maintains Imaging equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control, radiation and MR safety standards. Properly wears Dosimetry badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure. Assists with Performance Improvement initiatives while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of imaging procedures/positions, anatomy and pathology, and pharmacology [Required]
• Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
• Knowledge of radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment [Required]
• Must maintain Advent Health medical staff Allied Health privileges in good standing. [Required]
• Communicates effectively in English [Required]
• Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
• Good organizational skills [Preferred]
• Knowledge of CT, MR, ULTRASOUND, or NUCLEAR MEDICINE equipment [Preferred]
