Job Summary and Qualifications

The role of the RN Surgical Coordinator is to manage the daily operations of the Operating Room, facilitating efficiency, safety and quality of care under the direction of the OR Manager/Director.

  • Clear communication with physicians and advanced care professionals is essential. The Coordinator must demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and skills in the care of the surgical patient, and will manage the appropriateness of care for each patient through evaluation of patient acuity and delegation of staff responsibilities.
  • The Coordinator will evaluate and coordinate daily equipment needs and supplies, and assign staffing for the surgical schedule.
  • The Coordinator assists with communicating and implementing departmental and organizational goals and policies.
  • The Coordinator will assist with employee schedules, performance evaluations, training, hiring and counseling.
  • The Coordinator also serves in the role of the Registered Nurse.
  • The Registered Nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the surgical patient, and in support of the mission of Doctors Hospital.
  • The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patients between 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
  • Previous OR nursing experience required. Management/leadership experience preferred.
