Job Description Summary:

$25,000 SIGN-ON BONUS
External applicants may be eligible for a $25,000 sign-on bonus with a one-year work commitment. Previously employed applicants who have been gone from the organization more than 90 days may also be eligible.
The Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the various imaging equipment in use including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound.
The Interventional Radiology Technologist begins employment with a 6-month orientation in over 100 procedures performed in the interventional lab. The technologist must become competent as the scrub assistant to the Interventional Radiologist performing invasive procedures. They must maintain competency in the operating and use of angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT (both Diagnostic and Interventional uses) and be able to manage 1500+ products in the inventory of the lab. The technologist assists in performing many NeuroInterventional surgical procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coilings, avascular malformations and stroke interventions. Oncology procedures performed in the lab includes, but is not limited to biopsies of various organs, chemo embolizations and Y-90 Radiopharmaceutical Therapies. The technologist also assists with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations and other peripheral vascular interventions, including lysis and clot removal. This department performs over 20,000 procedures annually.
The Interventional Radiology Lab is staffed 24/7, so there is no on-call requirement for the technologists. This is a night shift position.
After working in the IR lab for one year, the technologist is eligible to be moved into a Senior Procedural Radiologic Technologist position, which includes a slight pay increase.

Radiologic technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventionalist in specific area as described above in summary for each area. 
10%
Greets patients upon arrival to department. Checks chart for required data (i.e., informed consent). Reports absences or abnormalities to RN/physician. Explains procedures, gives instructions, and answers patients' questions. Participates in room turnover and transporting of patients.

Assists Radiation Safety officer in QA of labs and radiation protective apparel on regular basis. Performs tasks using radiation safety principles; checks lead aprons for tears; reports findings and removes inadequate gear from service; maintains accurate records or work with Radiology department to maintain records.
