The Professional Medical Coder III is a senior-level coding professional responsible for reviewing and abstracting clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for professional billing. Coders at this level demonstrate advanced knowledge of coding guidelines, payer policies, and specialty-specific documentation requirements. They may support multiple specialties and often act as a resource for peers, clinicians, and leadership.

• Codes assigned accounts in accordance with the rules, regulations, and coding conventions set forth by AHA for ICD-CM and AMA for CPT.
• Abstracts patient data into the professional billing abstract within Epic.
• Communicates with clinicians by creating queries to clarify and improve documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field of study and 1-2 years experience coding in a healthcare setting preferred or
• Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field of study and 3-5 years experience coding in a healthcare setting preferred or
• High school diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years experience coding in a healthcare setting preferred
• One of the following: Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Outpatient Coder, Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based required upon hire

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $28.20/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
