Job description

Veterinary Ophthalmologist

Animal Care Group of Lake Oswego is looking for a Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join our team and help us bring advanced ophthalmic care to the pets and families of our community. Since 1986, we have built our reputation one patient, one client, and one relationship at a time. We are proud to be AAHA accredited and grateful to have earned a 4.9-star Google rating—but what matters most to us is what those things represent: exceptional medicine, thoughtful communication, loyal clients, and a team that genuinely cares about doing the right thing.

We take our medicine seriously. We also believe the best hospitals are built with heart, humor, trust, and people who truly enjoy working together. If you are looking for a hospital where your expertise will be valued, your ideas will be welcomed, and you will be surrounded by people who are invested in your success, we would love to meet you.

Here, you will find:

  • A talented, experienced, and highly engaged technical support team
  • An established hospital with a strong reputation in the community
  • A loyal and invested client base that values advanced care
  • A strong internal referral network through our general practice and urgent care services
  • Access to cross-disciplinary specialty consultation
  • Clinical autonomy with meaningful operational support
  • A workplace that values growth, accountability, kindness, and collaboration
  • A team that is proud of the medicine we practice—and proud of one another

We want you focused on your patients, your clients, and the medicine you love. Our team and support systems are here to help make that possible.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostics and microsurgical procedures
  • Diagnose and manage complex ocular diseases
  • Develop thoughtful, individualized treatment plans
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners
  • Collaborate with our general practice, urgent care, and support teams
  • Help shape the continued growth of our ophthalmology service
  • Contribute positively to a culture of learning, teamwork, and excellence

You may be a wonderful fit if you are:

  • A Board-Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist or residency-trained candidate
  • Eligible for veterinary licensure in Oregon
  • Dedicated to practicing thoughtful, high-quality medicine
  • Skilled in ophthalmic diagnostics and surgery
  • A clear and compassionate communicator
  • Collaborative, approachable, and respectful of every member of the hospital team
  • Excited to grow something meaningful within an established and trusted practice

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $220,000–$250,000, with additional earning potential through a monthly production bonus with no negative accrual. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • TeleDoc services
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Continuing education allowance
  • Paid continuing education days
  • Professional liability coverage
  • Parental leave
  • Additional resources and support through Mission Pet Health

As part of Mission Pet Health, we maintain the relationships, personality, and autonomy of a local hospital while benefiting from the resources and stability of a larger veterinarian-led network.

Lake Oswego offers the best of the Pacific Northwest: natural beauty, excellent schools, a vibrant downtown, beautiful parks, outdoor recreation, and easy access to Portland, the Oregon Coast, wine country, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mt. Hood.

It is a wonderful place to build a career—and an equally wonderful place to build a life.

If you want to practice stellar medicine with a dedicated team that brings skill, integrity, personality, and heart to its work, we would love to start a conversation.
