Roles & Opportunities
Sika is looking for an experienced Plant Controller to join our growing team in Gastonia N.C.
At Sika, the Plant Controller will:
  • Provide financial leadership at the plant level.
  • Establish and maintain Gastonia Manufacturing accounting processes, procedures and initiatives
  • Ensure daily operations are in compliance with the Controller's Handbook and Internal Control System.
  • o Act as key financial resource for V.P. of Operations/Plant manager
  • Preferred Skills
  • 5-7 years' experience in plant and cost accounting
    โ€ข 4-year degree or related experience, preferable in manufacturing and/or automotive industry.
    โ€ข Above average computer skills and experience with SAP S4/Hana, Hyperion, and operation of Microsoft Office programs such as EXCEL and Word
    โ€ข Above average knowledge of Cost Accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as Forecast and Outlook discussions.
    โ€ข Above average critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    โ€ข Familiarity with modern inventory control methods
    โ€ข Good interpersonal and communication skills
    โ€ข Excellent analytical and quantitative skills

Job Description
Specific Responsibilities:
โ€ข Accounting -
o Establish and maintain Gastonia Manufacturing accounting processes, procedures and initiatives
o Analyze manufacturing cost trends and perform monthly cost analysis.
o Reporting OPEX and participating in monthly OPEX conference calls
o Implement and ensure Manual of authority is respect within the location.
โ€ข Reporting and closing activities -
o Prepare supporting documentation for MIS (P&L) reports, S&O reports or any other reports in Hyperion as requested by Region or Corporate Finance team.
o Prepare various business-related reports, for example, Sales by customer/by part, Cost/kg, Efficiency reports, Saving initiatives reports, Operational and Sustainability reports.
o Assist VP of Operations with identification of and participation in EBIT improving projects.
o Month end closing process
โ€ข Costing -
o Preforming regular standard cost analysis against the actuals and providing reasoning for major variances.
o Assist with Standard cost analysis and absorption rates
o Review the standard cost in SAP according to the group standards.
o Review yearly factory rates based on capacity planning and implement in SAP
o Responsible for developing and maintaining transfer pricing costs to make sure local profitability
o Monthly review of purchase price variances to determine correct standards.
o Monthly review of production output variance related to the location
โ€ข Inventory Management -
o Work with Production Management to ensure the accuracy of finished goods postings to SAP daily
o Using current systems (SAP,MII) create weekly and monthly process order variance reports, disseminate to production managers and document responses and reasons for variances
o Work with Production and Logistics to ensure the accuracy of inventory in SAP
o Develop and audit sound procedures for physical inventory of raw material.
o Participate in monthly raw material physical inventory and ensure the accuracy of the book and physical counts, maintain records to document and explain variances. Review physical (RM) count differences for posting into SAP
o Produce DOH monthly inventory reports and work with sales and production management to reduce slow moving inventory
o Other: Additional duties as requested to support successful team and Gastonia site's performance
