Job Description

 Avery Dennison is seeking a Regional Operations Leader to join the Taylor Adhesives team in Dalton, GA with leadership for additional manufacturing sites including (Fontana CA).  In this role, the successful candidate(s) will develop, improve or maintain an effective system of metrics, scorecards, governance and reviews to assure strategies and projects are aligned with business needs in a leading company where individual and team success are recognized and rewarded.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Attract, manage, develop and retain a staff of change agents to deliver results in a manner consistent with living the Avery Dennison leadership principles

  • Drive an engaged learning organization that is capable of creating, acquiring, transferring and applying valuable knowledge to meet and exceed business goals.

  • Facilitate robust voice of customer to continuously evaluate and improve internal business processes.

  • Create a vision and operating strategy (OGSM - Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures) and ensure the effective execution to achieve or exceed quality, service, cost, safety, inventory and bottom-line results.

  • Leverage a demonstrated ability to collaborate across boundaries to solve difficult problems.

  • Be a visible leader capable of engaging team members at all levels of the organization.

  • Foster a culture where safety is a core value in daily operation and strive towards an accident-free workplace. Support the processes and practices to build on the VPP certification and ensure site compliance with legal, legislative and corporate safety requirements.

  • Ensure accuracy and completion of capital planning and budgeting.

  • Drive lean management and process discipline throughout front-end and manufacturing areas by personally championing Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS).

  • Model and promote the Corporation's Code of Business Ethics and Values.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent

  • 8+ years solid business experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and handling individuals and teams.

  • Solid understanding and experience with ISO Quality System.

  • General business knowledge within the Adhesives and Flooring Industry

  • Experience working in a Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing environment.

  • Shown success in operations leadership, improvement process and proven ability to understand and integrate consumer needs, marketing strategies and broader business challenges.

  • Must be dynamic, proactive, high-reaching, assert a "can do" attitude, strength of character, tenacity and credibility and be able to build and respect strong working relationships with all levels of the business.

  • Ability to work comfortably within a fast paced and matrixed organization, built around team concepts and structures and the ability to deal with constantly changing internal and external environments.

  • Strong organizational skills in strategy, communication at all levels and execution. Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Shown change agent with strong and clear communication skills. Must be comfortable and effective in both public/broad forums and in one on one coaching situations.

  • Balance of strategic and tactical thinking skills. Skilled in analyzing and drawing information for long-term strategic change and improvement for the site.

  • A strong operational leadership background which includes - a solid understanding of modern manufacturing, material flow and improvement strategies (e.g. kaizen, six sigma, synchronous flow, make to order, cellular, etc.) and the ability to integrate those into the operation.

  • Strong understanding of financial systems and the key drivers within the manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, relationship building, mentoring, training and project management experience and skills.
