Middletown, NY

Full-time

Job description

Join Accent and Help Keep Industry Moving
Accent is a leading manufacturer of industrial strapping systems serving recycling facilities, manufacturers, distribution centers, corrugated plants, waste processors, and other heavy industrial operations throughout North America.
We are looking for an experienced Regional Industrial Service Technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical and electrical problems, traveling to customer sites, and working independently. If you enjoy troubleshooting industrial equipment, meeting new customers, and taking ownership of solving difficult problems, this could be the career you've been looking for.
No two weeks are the same. One week you may be installing and commissioning a brand-new automatic strapping system. The next week you could be diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, PLC, or mechanical issues at a recycling facility hundreds of miles away. Every service call presents a new challenge and an opportunity to help customers keep their operations running safely and efficiently.
This is a home-based position supporting customers throughout the Northeastern United States.

Why Join Accent?
  • Work on specialized industrial equipment throughout North America.
  • Solve challenging hydraulic, electrical, PLC, and mechanical problems.
  • Enjoy the independence of managing your own territory.
  • Receive factory training on Accent equipment.
  • Work alongside experienced Engineering, Parts, Operations, and Service teams.
  • Build long-term customer relationships.
  • Company vehicle, tools, laptop, mobile phone, and travel expenses provided.
  • Every week offers new equipment, new customers, and new technical challenges.

Territory
The Northeast Territory includes:
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Delaware
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • New York
  • Connecticut
  • Rhode Island
  • Massachusetts
  • Vermont
  • New Hampshire
  • Maine
Territory assignments may change as business needs require.
This position requires approximately 90% travel, primarily Monday through Friday, with frequent overnight stays. Technicians typically return home on weekends, although occasional weekend travel or emergency service may be required.
Preferred home location: Northern New Jersey or the New York metropolitan area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Install and commission industrial strapping equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Allen-Bradley and IDEC PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, and related industrial automation components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Train customer maintenance personnel and equipment operators.
  • Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Recommend replacement parts and equipment upgrades.
  • Communicate technical findings with customers and internal Engineering, Parts, Sales, and Service teams.
  • Provide field feedback to Engineering to support continuous product improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for additional service, replacement parts, and equipment upgrades.
  • Represent Accent professionally while delivering exceptional customer service.

Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems—not simply replacing parts.
Successful technicians are:
  • Self-motivated
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Strong electrical troubleshooters
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Organized
  • Professional with customers
  • Willing to travel extensively
  • Committed to working safely
If you enjoy figuring out difficult problems and helping customers keep their operations running, you'll fit in well at Accent.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a passport for occasional international travel
  • Strong electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Office and service reporting software

Preferred Experience
Five (5) or more years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
  • Industrial Maintenance
  • Field Service
  • Heavy Equipment
  • Recycling Equipment
  • Packaging Equipment
  • Material Handling Systems
  • Industrial Automation
  • PLC-Controlled Machinery
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Welding and Fabrication
Experience troubleshooting and commissioning industrial control systems, including Allen-Bradley and IDEC PLCs and HMIs, is highly preferred.
Spanish language skills are preferred but not required.

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily at customer facilities, including recycling plants, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, transfer stations, and other heavy industrial environments. The position involves exposure to moving machinery, electrical and hydraulic systems, noise, dust, weather, and dirty work areas.

Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, electrical diagnostic equipment, and hydraulic testing equipment.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle.
  • Travel overnight throughout the assigned territory.

Join the Accent Team
At Accent, our Regional Industrial Service Technicians are trusted technical professionals who solve complex equipment challenges and help customers maximize productivity. You'll have the independence to manage your territory while working alongside an experienced team that values technical expertise, customer relationships, and continuous improvement.
If you're looking for a career where your skills, judgment, and professionalism make a difference every day, we'd like to hear from you.
Accent is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
