Salary: This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position at 232 days with a minimum annual salary of $66,158.00.
Job Summary (Primary Purpose):
The Product Developer design and develops high-impact products and learning experiences for teachers, instructional coaches, and leaders. This role helps to drive product revenues for the McREL Institute by ensuring effective execution of the Institute's product roadmap, creating print and digital products that drive measurable learning outcomes.
Required Qualifications (Experience, Education and Certificates):
  • Bachelor's degree in education, communications, product design, or related field.
  • At least three years of experience in the design and development of K-12 instructional materials, workshops, and/or services.
  • Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects on tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Education and Certificates):
  • Background in education, leadership development, or professional learning.
  • Experience translating research findings into practical guidance for educators.
  • Experience developing visually appealing multi-media products and presentations.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of learning theories and principles applicable to instruction (Instructional Design)
  • Strong understanding of the practical realities of K-12 classrooms and schools.
  • Demonstrated writing skills and ability to translate complex information into plain language.
  • Demonstrated analysis and synthesis skills to distill key ideas from complex research information.
  • Ability to analyze client feedback and usage data and iterate on products.
  • Must love working and in a fast-paced, timeline-driven environment.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public?
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to guide end-to-end creation of products from concept through development, quality assurance review, launch, iteration, and scaling.
  • Translate research and best practices into practical, actionable learning experiences
  • Develop multimedia learning assets (print materials, videos, slide decks, classroom activities)
  • Ensure products are delivered on time and aligns with the McREL Institute research findings, product strategy, quality standards, and intended outcomes.
  • Develop and oversee all product development Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Manage a pre-planned production calendar and maintain an on-time schedule.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and market research for educational products, services, and eCommerce.
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and vendors on product-related work.
  • Understand and use ESC Region 13 internal systems.
  • Collaborate with in-house support teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Role:
  • N/A

Budget Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Institute Deputy Executive Director with budget development.
  • Understand how to generate revenue through product sales and licensing.
  • Responsible for executing on product roadmaps to generate revenue to cover position cost.
