Job Description

The NYC Financial Information Services Agency-Office of Payroll Administration (FISA-OPA) seeks to hire an Assistant Supervisor for the W-2 and FICA Refunds Unit within the Payroll Banking and Accounting (PBA) group. Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor will:
- Assist the Supervisor with managing the Unit's daily assignment workflows.
- Analyze and document W-2 and FICA Refunds Unit processes and procedures.
- Assist the Supervisor in supporting the recommendations of feature additions in the FICA Refund System.
- Review wage and deduction summary adjustments processed in the Payroll Information (Pi) and/or PMS; process negative one-time deductions in Pi.
- Assist with managing multiple FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) refund claims.
- Perform analytical/accounting tasks as assigned by the Payroll Banking and Accounting management.
Preferred Skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
- Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze data, prepare statistical and narrative reports.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent skills with Microsoft 365 products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with the Payroll Management System (PMS), Payroll Information Administration (Pi), City Human Resource Management System (CHRMS), Reports Management Distribution System (RMDS), and ClearQuest.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting, auditing, and cost accounting and four years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing accounting or auditing work; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license and at least 18 months of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising a staff performing accounting or auditing work.
