Job description

Industrial Distribution Driver, Box Truck Operations

Department: Shipping | Reports to: Shipping Manager | Based in: Indianapolis, IN

Keep Indianapolis manufacturing moving

Every day, in-process sheet metal parts must reach vendors on time, and finished goods must arrive with customers exactly as promised. As our Industrial Distribution Driver, you are the dependable link that makes that happenโ€”planning smart routes, protecting each load, and delivering with professionalism across the Indianapolis area.

How you'll make an impact

Picture your route: the morning begins with a vendor drop of in-process parts, followed by client deliveries of finished goods. You verify instructions, secure and balance the load in the box truck, and set out. At each stop, you provide courteous service, capture signatures, and keep us informed of your progress. You refuel and tidy the vehicle as needed and immediately report any incidents or maintenance needs.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a company box truck to transport sheet metal products to and from designated Indianapolis-area locations.
  • Plan and adjust routes to meet delivery timelines.
  • Collect and confirm delivery instructions for accuracy.
  • Secure product; arrange and balance loads to avoid damage.
  • Assist with loading and unloading; operate hand trucks and forklifts when required.
  • Obtain signatures from clients to finalize deliveries.
  • Maintain positive, professional interactions with customers and vendors.
  • Refuel and clean the box truck routinely.
  • Comply with all traffic laws; make safety the top priority.
  • Promptly notify management of accidents, parking tickets, vehicle damage, or major maintenance issues.
Team standards
  • Follow written or verbal instructions for daily tasks.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Support the team with additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Proven truck driving experience.
  • Indiana For-Hire Endorsement (required minimum); CDL preferred.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Proficient at maneuvering and parking large, heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple commitments.
  • Self-directed, motivated, and reliable when working independently.
  • Keen attention to detail; steady under pressure.
  • Sound reasoning skills to address problems on the road.
  • Technical competence with adequate computer skills.
  • Previous warehouse and delivery experience preferred.
