Job Summary
We are a commercial construction company specializing in cold storage solutions, including the supply and installation of walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, glass cold room doors, refrigeration systems, and related components for a variety of industries. We serve grocery, food service, industrial, and logistics clients with high-quality, dependable cold storage installations nationwide. 
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Commercial Construction Estimator to support our preconstruction and bidding efforts. This role is responsible for identifying bid opportunities, preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing, and communicating directly with general contractors and clients throughout the bidding and negotiation process. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable managing both the technical and relationship aspects of preconstruction.
This position offers strong growth potential as our company continues expanding into larger commercial and industrial projects.
Responsibilities
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs for insulated metal panels (IMP), doors, trim, structural components, and related scope
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing (refrigeration, steel, electrical, etc.)
  • Develop accurate labor and material cost estimates
  • Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals
  • Communicate directly with general contractors and clients to clarify scope and respond to questions
  • Participate in bid negotiations and pricing adjustments as needed
  • Monitor industry project lead platforms and identify relevant commercial cold storage opportunities
  • Present recommended projects to leadership for review and approval prior to bidding
  • Track submitted bids, maintain pipeline records, and follow up on outstanding proposals
  • Assist with project handoff to operations once awarded
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating (specialty trade experience preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience performing takeoffs and developing cost estimates
  • Familiarity with estimating and takeoff software (Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with contractors and clients
  • Organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with cold storage construction, refrigeration-related scope. 
  • Understanding of commercial construction processes and subcontractor coordination
