Description:

URM Stores, Inc. is looking for a full time Refrigeration (Reefer) Mechanic to join our team. The Reefer Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and pre-tripping Thermo King, and Carrier units. You will troubleshoot and complete repairs on Thermo King and Carrier gensets. The ideal candidate should have previous experience as a mechanic/technician in the transport refrigeration industry.


Candidate must be able to work the following shift: Sunday-Thursday 9:00 pm – 5:00 am.


Duties will include:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components on the truck, trailer, and V-series refrigeration units.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components on gensets and APU’s.
  • Maintain transport refrigeration systems on trucks, trailers, APU, V-series, Gensets, and Bus by performing diagnostics using scanners, electronic test equipment, and onboard computers.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service the refrigeration equipment.
  • Able to maintain transport refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, APU’s and Genset’s by reviewing shop orders, writing up estimates, and the details of the repairs needed or completed. In some cases, contact the customer directly to explain the job needed or completed.
  • Repair failures; remove, replace, and test with a multimeter.
  • Repair freon leaks, assemble and install parts and components involving soldering, and use refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform miscellaneous-related duties as required and assigned by the manager.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Reefer units (Thermo King and/or Carrier) strongly preferred.
  • 609 and 608 Certifications strongly preferred.
  • EPA Type 2 License preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • Ability to run and understand diagnostics.
  • 2-5 years of Transport Refrigeration Technical, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL license preferred.
  • Must be able to be work a swing shift.
  • Must possess the tools required to accomplish the essential job results required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
