To thrive as a Refrigeration Apprentice, you need a basic understanding of mechanical systems, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to learn on the job. Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety equipment, and potentially EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants is often expected. A Refrigeration Apprentice assists experienced technicians in installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems. They learn to work with tools, read blueprints, and follow safety protocols while gaining hands-on experience. This role is typically part of an apprenticeship program that combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Over time, apprentices develop the skills needed to become certified refrigeration technicians.
