Position Summary:
The Refinery Operator is a member of the Operations Team reporting directly to the Superintendent of Operations and Operations Supervisors/Shift Leaders. The Refinery Operator is accountable and responsible for the refinery of oils meeting established quality and customer specifications.
Schedule & Training:
New hires will initially work an 8-hour day shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, no overtime) during a 6-month training period.
Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to a permanent night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) and work a rotating schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off.Â
Key Responsibilities:
Refines, bleaches and deodorizes crude vegetable oils into refined oils for human consumption
Processes samples utilizing lab equipment to obtain and record values of oil in process
Monitors and adjusts operations using Lab test results and computerized controlled systems to meet quality and production requirements
Distributes crude and finished oil in and out of oil tanks as process and situation dictates
Learn processing controls using a computerized system
Complete all personal required safety trainings
Operate forklift as needed after proper training/certification
Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures and forms
Ensure a clean and safe work environment adhering to food safety guidelines
Learn and maintain proper use of personal protection equipment (P.P.E.)
Report all accidents, incidents and near misses to the Superintendent of Operations and the Plant Manager
Ensure all tasks are completed safely as assigned to the shift
Participate in all audits, ensuring all areas are audit-ready at all times
Follow all safety rules and requirements, attending safety meetings, and tailgates
Other duties as directed or required.
Qualifications:
- Must be, or become forklift operator certified
- 3-5 years of processing equipment operations experience
- Intermediate level in general computer applications use
Position Requirements:
- Have the ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be willing and able to work overtime hours during the week, weekends and/or holidays as directed by management
- Must be able to clearly communicate to co-workers and management
