We're currently growing our team of Artisans with a Boiler Operations Specialist. This role is responsible for operation, service and repair activities on natural gas and light oil-fired industrial heat process equipment and boilers.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Calibrate, test, and verify boiler/steam generator instrumentation, including PLCs, transmitters, flow meters, and level devices.
  • Diagnose complex electrical and instrumentation issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Manage and prioritize I&E work orders, ensuring efficient resource use and timely completion.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and project teams on new installations, upgrades, and system modifications, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Lead or support training of Operations personnel in safe boiler/steam generator operation.
  • Perform all required preventive maintenance tasks to support boiler reliability.
  • Oversee calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and safety interlocks.
  • Conduct system monitoring and safety inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and standards (NEC, ISA, NFPA).
  • Troubleshoot field issues and determine safe, effective corrective actions.
  • Configure controls for steam flow, water usage, and temperature per specifications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic, electronic, analog, and digital process control instrumentation.
  • Manage and maintain critical spare parts inventory.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems including process controls, lighting, motor controls, and high/low-voltage equipment.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas across offshore/onshore sites.
  • Perform independent RCFA on instrumentation or logic failures.
  • Make equipment repairs and modifications based on operational learnings.
  • Lead/support commissioning and start-up of new instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Support Lean initiatives and continuous improvement in I&E processes.
  • Cut, bend, and install tubing for instrument installations.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and climb multiple flights of stairs as needed.
  • Assist with mechanical or operational tasks outside of primary I&E duties when necessary.
  • Perform additional assignments as required.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma plus two years of advanced education in instrumentation, electrical technology, or engineering.
  • Minimum two years of experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and control logic in the industrial boiler/steam generator environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work safely in an offshore setting.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands
The Company requires passing a pre-employment physical in which an objective medical professional will determine whether you can safely meet the physical demands of the position.
Duration of Workhours During Project Executions:
  • Typically, 12 continuous hours that may extend up to 16 hours if an emergent need exists, for up to 14 days in a row.
  • Day shift and/or night shift.

Working Conditions During Project Executions:
  • Working environment will include offshore platforms and onshore locations.
  • Projects are executed outdoors, so the potential for inclement weather exists to include temperature extremes as well as in an offshore environment.
  • Uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
  • Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other forms of inclement weather.
  • Routine, intermittent exposure to noise more than 85 dBA-TWA.
  • Environments that may necessitate the use of respiratory protection for the shift duration.
  1. Half-face, full-face, and/or supplied air
  2. Medical clearance to use respiratory protection is required.
  3. Quantitative fit testing for specific respiratory protection is required.

Physical Demands:
  • Work at heights up to 150 ft/ 45m accessed via stairs, climbing ladders, or critical lifts by cranes. This requires an ability to climb ladders and stairs without issue.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 40lbs., without assistance.
  • Pushing / pulling up to 100 lbs., without assistance.
  • Standing and walking for up to 12 to 16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks. May exceed 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day.
  • Bending and stooping repeatedly and performing task including twisting or turning valves and using wrenches and hand tools.

Travel Requirements
Ability to travel to outlying markets for supporting a growing list of clients across North America and International Markets and spend 100 - 120 nights per year away from home.
