Job Description
The Sunquest Clinical Laboratory Information System (LIS) Senior Application Analyst will provide strong analytical and troubleshooting skills proactively for implementing and clinical laboratory technology applications for the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta user community.
Onsite: Georgia candidates with once-a-week work from home day
Remote: Candidates from the following states will qualify for remote opportunity - Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio or Missouri
Experience
  • 3+ years of Applications analyst experience with Sunquest Lab (Clinisys) application
  • Experience in leading complex projects/tasks from inception to completion with minimal supervision

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applications analyst experience in Sunquest/Clinisys Lab Application - General Lab, Microbiology or Blood Bank

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Beaker Anatomic or Clinical Pathology a plus
  • Experience in a healthcare setting

Education
  • College degree in operationally related area or equivalent experience

Certification Summary
  • Beaker Anatomic or Clinical Pathology certification a plus, but not required

Job Responsibilities
System Administration and Maintenance
  • Installation and Configuration: Set up, configure, and customize the LIS software to match the specific workflows of the lab. Test Build: Proficiency in Sunquest Laboratory application test and reflex build including Reference Lab build Regular Maintenance: Perform system backups, installing software updates, and managing server uptime. Ensure application redundancy with functional Disaster Recovery (DR) system. System Monitoring: Daily, weekly and monthly system checks are performed to maintain the integrity of patient data, test results and quality control metrics. Security and Compliance: Ensure the system follows strict healthcare regulations like HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP by managing user permissions, audit trails, and data encryption.

Integration and Workflow Management
  • Instrument Interfacing: implement instrument/middleware connectivity to enable lab analyzers to send test results directly into the LIS, reducing manual entry errors. EHR Integration: Manage the data exchange between the LIS and EPIC EMR. Rules-Based Automation: implementation of application software to provide lab test ordering and resulting capability. Positive patient identification implemented for use by Lab phlebotomy team

Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Business Intelligence: Adhoc Crystal report creation for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Billing Integration: Ensure that test billing charges are accurately captured in LIS and transmitted to the downstream billing application for reimbursement.

Support and Training
  • Support: Provide 24-hour on-call scheduled support for seven days every 5th week for critical system issues and help lab staff to resolve technical workflow application issues/errors. Staff Training: Train lab staff on how to use the LIS efficiently.
