Summary:
The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. IDOC is recruiting for a full-time Clinician to be filled at District 4 Probation & Parole in Boise, ID. Clinicians with the Idaho Department of Correction work inside correctional institutions/prisons and Probation and Parole District Offices around the state. The Clinician performs comprehensive mental health assessments, program assignments, and treatment referrals while developing individualized treatment plans and delivering therapeutic interventions. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external providers to ensure integrated care, present clinical findings, facilitate therapeutic groups, and evaluate treatment outcomes. Additional responsibilities include advocacy for residents' mental health needs, and participation in research.
Responsibilities:
  1. Perform behavioral health assessment on those under community supervision of Probation or Parole.
  2. Determine client's needs for additional services and referral to behavioral health services, including Substance Use Co-occurring disorders.
  3. Participate in the delivery of programmatic based groups and individuals.
  4. Provide crisis intervention.
  5. Facilitate multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings.
  6. Provide the clinical role among fellow district team members. This can include but not be limited to: Probation and Parole officers, Presentence Investigators, District leadership, & Other team members as identified.
  7. Provide direct clinical oversight of district-based SUD, other behavioral health team, and Reentry Specialists.
  8. Manage behavioral health court ordered (Idaho Code 19-2524) requests and assignments with emphasis on Substance Use Disorder assessment and ASAM based level of care recommendations.
  9. Coordinate service authorizations with IDOC Central Office SUD team and assist in policy and program development.

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume needs to clearly articulate how your skills, education and experience meet the qualifications below-
  1. A master's degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.)
  2. Good knowledge of drug & alcohol treatment course work. Typically gained by a minor in addiction studies, or graduate certificate.
  3. Experience to include performing client assessments and case management; developing and implementing treatment plans; and monitoring client behaviors. Typically gained by at least 3 credits with in the 12 core functions (screening/assessment or case management) or closely related field OR at least 6 months of full-time work experience in a behavioral health clinic/or substance use disorder program providing client with screening and assessment tools.
  4. Willing to work non-traditional hours (evening hours up to 10 p.m. and/or weekends) in a correctional facility and/or probation and parole district office providing program facilitation and case management services to individuals under IDOC jurisdiction.

Specialty Qualifications:
  1. Must possess a current Idaho license as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or be eligible within 90 days from the date of hire.

Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Some knowledge of the criminal justice system. Typically gained by at least 6 college level credits in criminal justice or a closely related field OR at least 6 months of full-time work experience in a corrections or law enforcement setting involving daily interaction with clients or offenders to enforce security and safety procedures in a corrections or law enforcement setting (i.e. probation & parole officer, correctional officer, case manager, mental health or criminal justice professional) OR completion of a collegiate internship (at least 150 hours) in a criminal justice setting.
  2. Some knowledge of screening/assessing with ASAM criteria. Typically gained by at least 3 credits with in the 12 core functions or closely related field OR at least 6 months of full-time work experience in a behavioral health clinic/or substance use disorder program providing client with screening and assessment tools.
  3. Some knowledge of supervisor practices. Typically gained through completion of college coursework or workshops (of at least one day) specifically covering supervisory practices; OR supervisory or team leader experience that formally involved giving work assignments, providing direction to employees, and monitoring/evaluating the work of others.
  4. Preferred candidates will have at least one (1) year of experience providing clinical oversight of staff and treatment programs.
