Job description


Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform the maintenance, repair and reconditioning of vehicular equipment and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) units
  • Perform the repair, reworking and/or replacement of electrical systems
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, refrigerant, and electrical problems related to all Reefer systems (single & multi-temp), including engine, cooling, heating and on board computer modules
  • Perform repair and maintenance on trucks including auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturer's specifications
  • Perform preventive maintenance for all vehicles serviced by facility
  • Maintain the maintenance shop and its associated facilities in a state of operational readiness during its scheduled working hours
  • Inspect and, if necessary, road test vehicles upon completion of work to insure quality of repairs performed
  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe working environment
  • Maintain, keep current on new training and development for diesel, reefer, tractor and trailer components, repair and maintenance technology.
  • Comply with the local implementation of NEC maintenance and safety standard operating procedures in this maintenance facility.

Diesel Mechanic Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and mechanical equipment
  • Advance knowledge of reefer electrical and mechanical systems
  • Skilled in the repair and preventative maintenance of reefer engines, systems, trailers and components.
  • Proven service background with knowledge of warranties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and business partners
  • Intermediate computer, skills required including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Advanced computer diagnostic skills and understanding.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
