What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

High-paying jobs that can reach or exceed $500,000 annually in the US include executive roles such as CEOs, CFOs, and other C-suite positions, as well as specialized professions like investment bankers, senior surgeons, and certain technology executives. These roles typically require extensive experience, advanced skills, and often involve leadership responsibilities or performance-based bonuses.

Is Redshift a good company to work for?

Redshift is a data warehousing service offered by Amazon Web Services, not a company employing individuals directly. If referring to a job role related to Redshift, such as a Redshift engineer, the work typically involves cloud computing, data management, and SQL skills. The work environment depends on the employer using Redshift, which can vary widely in company culture and benefits.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Redshift position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Redshift-focused role (such as an Amazon Redshift Database Administrator or Redshift Data Engineer), you need strong expertise in cloud data warehousing, SQL, ETL development, and data modeling, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically Redshift, as well as tools like Python, ETL platforms, and related AWS certifications are highly valuable. Effective communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills enable you to translate business needs into scalable data solutions and collaborate with diverse teams. These skills are essential for ensuring data integrity, optimizing performance, and supporting strategic business decisions in a cloud-based data environment.

Does Redshift offer remote positions?

Redshift, as a data warehousing service, does not directly offer remote positions; however, companies that use Redshift for data analytics may have remote job opportunities depending on their policies. Data-related roles such as data engineers or analysts working with Redshift can often be performed remotely if the employer supports flexible work arrangements.

What is a Redshift job?

A Redshift job typically refers to a task or process involving Amazon Redshift, a cloud-based data warehousing service. This can include roles such as database administrators, data engineers, or analysts who work with Redshift to store, process, and analyze large datasets. Common responsibilities involve writing SQL queries, optimizing performance, managing clusters, and integrating Redshift with data pipelines.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working with Amazon Redshift, and how can I prepare for them?

Working with Amazon Redshift often involves optimizing large-scale data pipelines, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, and ensuring data security in a cloud environment. It can be challenging to balance query speed with cost efficiency, especially as data volumes grow rapidly. Familiarity with Redshift best practices—such as schema design, compression techniques, and query optimization—will help you address these issues effectively. Proactively staying updated on AWS feature releases and participating in team knowledge sharing can also make problem-solving more efficient and collaborative.

What is redshift recruiting?

Redshift recruiting refers to the process of hiring professionals for roles related to Amazon Redshift, a data warehousing service. It often involves assessing skills in data management, SQL, and cloud computing, and may require familiarity with AWS tools and certifications.

Data Foundryis a multidisciplinary team within DTP that enables AI-native drug discovery through four integrated pillars:Architecture4Insight(data infrastructure and scientific software),Methods4Insight(analytical and computational methods),Automation & Scale4Insight(lab automation and agentic workflows), andPreparedness4Insight(data governance and readiness). These pillars empower every Lilly scientist to make optimal decisions by providing seamless access to data, insights, and AI-driven capabilities-serving both human scientists and autonomous AI agents.

Position Summary

We are seeking aScientific Software Developerto build the software systems that power AI-native drug discovery. You will work directly with front-line discovery scientists to translate their needs into fit-for-purpose prototypes, data pipelines, APIs, MLOps infrastructure, agentic platform components, and lab automation integrations.

This role works acrossArchitecture4Insight,Methods4Insight, andAutomation & Scale4Insight. A defining aspect is Data Foundry'sprototype-to-production operating model: you will rapidly build and validate solutions with scientists, then hand off mature prototypes toTech@Lillyfor enterprise scaling and maintenance-keeping you focused on innovation and the next high-impact problem.

ResponsibilitiesScientific Data Pipelines, APIs & LIMS
  • Design, build, and maintain data processing pipelines for complex scientific datasets (chemical, biological, HTE, and automation-generated data), ensuring FAIR compliance and machine-actionability.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices providing unified programmatic access to LIMS, ELNs, instruments, data warehouses (Postgres, Redshift, Snowflake), and analytical databases.
  • Support continuous improvement of LIMS and adjacent systems to meet evolving scientific workflows, security, and scalability standards.
MLOps & Model Operationalization
  • Build ML deployment pipelines-experiment tracking, model versioning (MLflow, W&B), containerized serving, monitoring, and automated retraining.
  • Implement model observability: drift detection, performance alerting, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with Methods4Insight to operationalize cheminformatics, statistical, and AI/ML models as production APIs.
Agentic Platforms & AI Agent Infrastructure
  • Develop agent-ready APIs with structured error handling, audit trails, and monitoring supporting agent autonomy and human oversight.
  • Contribute to MCP servers or similar frameworks exposing Data Foundry capabilities to AI agents.
  • Build software enabling closed-loop experimentation: agents design, automation executes, data flows back, models update.
Automation Software & Lab Integration
  • Build integrations connecting lab automation equipment, scheduling systems, and instrument data streams to Data Foundry's infrastructure with proper metadata and traceability.
  • Create modular, reusable automation workflow components scientists can configure without writing code.
Scientific Prototyping & Tech@Lilly Handoff
