Job description

The Lube Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing mine equipment (oil, grease, hydraulic, fuel, etc.) in an underground and above ground mining environment. Will assist mechanics in the inspection, service, 
maintenance, etc. of mining equipment.

Education: 
1. High School, GED, and/or higher education.
 

Work Experience:
1. Minimum one year of experience as a Lube Technician. 
2. Experience in Underground mining. 
3. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record. 
4. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.
5. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.
 

Knowledge Required: 
1. Understanding of servicing fluids and basic mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment. 
2. Ability to read and understand materials commonly used in the product service and maintenance function (service and parts manuals, technical bulletins, and other related articles).
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written. 
4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and 
procedure manuals. 
5. Must have a working knowledge of all tools and equipment necessary to work as a lube technician.
6. Experience with OEM maintenance repair manuals and schematics applicable to mine equipment servicing.
7. High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy 
8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 
 

Other Requirements:
1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical. 
2. Must have a mechanics basic set of hand tools up to a two-inch minimum.
3. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. 
4. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence. 
5. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
6. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

1. Keep accurate records of equipment fluid servicing.
2. Highly responsible for keeping with schedule. Lubing and fueling must be done as quickly and accurately as possible in order to reduce the amount of downtime for each piece of equipment. 
3. Coordinate equipment service activities with operations and maintenance team members.
4. Check and fill fluid levels, service lube points and perform routine preventative maintenance. 
5. Assist in maintaining inventory of service kits, lubes, oils, and other supplies. 
6. Inspecting & taking notes with operator to identify leaks, abnormal engine noise, overheating, damage, 
excessive wear.
7. Maintain proper fluid levels in the lube truck. 
8. Perform Pre-Ops on the lube truck. 
9. Ensure grease tanks are full for the automatic grease systems.
10. Follow the best practices in contamination control in filtration & fluid cleanliness.
11. Protects the environment by preventing, controlling, and reporting any fuel and lube spills. 
12. Operate service truck safely and efficiently. 
13. Comply with all Redpath USA Corporation and Owners safety regulations and procedures. 
14. Will assist mechanics in the inspection, service, preventative maintenance and minor maintenance of 
mining equipment as directed. 
15. Ability to safely operate and move various mine equipment for servicing. 
16. Understand confined space, fall protection, equipment isolation, and standards and procedures. 
17. Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
18. Must be able to follow proper procedures to ensure safety and to control equipment damage. 
19. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.
20. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures. 
21. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information. 
22. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). 
23. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations. 
24. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.
