Job description


The primary role of the Raisebore Helper is to assist the Raisebore Operator in all facets of operating the raisedrill machinery, including moving, set up, pilot hole drilling, installation/ removal of reamer, MUBO tool, inspection and tear down. In addition, the Raisebore Helper is role in which the incumbent is expected to learn
Responsibilities
1. Assist the Operator on the assigned raisedrill according to procedure with respect to set-up, etc.
2. Give directions to crew members on the various duties with respect to the safe and efficient operation of
the raisedrill
3. Provide training/mentoring to less experienced members of the project crew
4. Connect various components on the raisedrill as required
5. Monitor inventory for reamers, drill bits, spare parts and communicate requirements to Project
Superintendent as required
6. Read and interpret engineering plans to set up the raisedrill and assemble components
7. Perform minor repairs as required
8. Assist the crew with maintaining a clean work site, storage of materials and spare parts
9. Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
10. Operate and maintain heavy equipment
11. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements
to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and
acceptable driving record.
12. Responsible for keeping work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
13. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe
and efficient manner.
14. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
15. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
16. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the
appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
17. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
18. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.
19. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned
and are not necessarily all inclusive.
20. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist other job functions as required.
Qualifications
Education:
1. Required: Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
2. Preferred: Some college education - in mechanical or trades related an asset.
Work Experience:
1. Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in a mining environment.
2. Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance
Knowledge Required:
1. Must be able to demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.
2. Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment
3. Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).
4. Knowledge and understanding of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.
Other Requirements:
1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
3. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
5. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
6. High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy.
7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
8. Strong understanding of safety standards and protocols
