Job Description Summary

The Data Analyst II will support implementation, administration, configuration, and deployment of analytic information systems, products, and services. Participates in projects of varying sizes and complexity as they relate to analytic product development and analytic information systems. Works with clinical, research, and operations areas to analyze, communicate and validate requirements for analytic applications and products. Participates in synthesizing, analyzing and summarizing data to support institutional processes and promote organizational improvement.

Job Description

The Data Analyst II will:

  • Manage and generate ad hoc datasets, summaries and report information for end-users using Enterprise Data Warehouse(s), vendor and reference data systems, database queries and scripts.

  • Program and maintain clinical, research, and operations dashboards, standard reports, and other end-user information resources.

  • Build and maintain a reporting repository to centralize organizational dashboards, performance metrics, and daily/weekly/monthly executive reporting.

  • Assists with configuring analytics products and application upgrades and enhancements by collaborating with internal departments and external vendors to develop conversion plans for system changes including communication and maintenance testing.

  • Supports analytics projects by assisting with identifying business requirements, determining objectives, identifying stakeholders, recommending product solutions, and establishing budgets and timelines. 

  • Translates business requirements into system design, ensuring systems deliver the desired capabilities to meet the needs of users.

  • Configures system settings and options, plans, and executes unit integration and acceptance testing, and creates specifications for systems to meet clinical, research, and operational requirements.

  • Configures and maintains analytics systems including one or more of the following: REDCap, Press Ganey, eRehab, NDNQI. Enterprise Data Warehouse, Tableau

  • Assists with development of plans, materials, and documentation for training, maintenance and support for employee education including the evaluation of training for effectiveness.

  • May serve on appropriate SRAlab committees.

  • Implements and supports user security measures to maintain data integrity, organizational policy, and research protocols.

  • Utilizes Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to interact with and manipulate multiple systems.

  • Assist in development and implementation of project plans with timelines, milestones, defined roles and responsibilities, and communication plans.

  • Provides after-hours on call service as required.

  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reports to the Manager and/or Director of Analytics

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Data Science, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field. Work experience and/or Industry Certifications can replace traditional educational requirements.

  • Minimum of 4 years of related, external experience or 2 years related institutional experience at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.  Knowledge of analytics modeling, tools, and concepts (e.g. statistics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data visualization, databases, Enterprise Data Warehouses, data models and pipelines) and continues developing professional expertise. 

  • Experience and/or expertise in one or more of the following: Statistical & Machine Learning modeling; Data Visualization & Dissemination; Analytics Engineering & Architecture; Business Intelligence and Strategy (BI Engineer, BI Developer, BI Analyst, Data Strategist).

  • Subject matter expertise and/or experience desired in: Healthcare Operations and Business Practices, Project Management Methods; Quality/Performance Improvement Methods; Clinical Informatics; Research Analytics; Research Methods.

  • Knowledge of healthcare analytics support processes in one or more area (e.g., Clinical, Research, Operations, etc.).

  • Experience working within Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office tools, and Cloud Systems and/or *Nix operating systems.

  • Personal computer skills necessary to prepare project plans, presentations, flow charts, test plans, etc.

  • Intermediate experience working within Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office tools, and Cloud Systems and/or *Nix operating systems.

  • Ability to pay close attention to details when designing, implementing, documenting and maintaining system functions.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to actively listen and communicate effectively with IS peers and user community to deliver and support systems based on user needs.

  • Critical thinking and reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems.

  • Ability to support one or more areas of SRAlab’s existing analytics system applications.

  • Ability to manage small- to medium-scale systems implementation projects

  • Intermediate Experience with ANSI SQL, Python, R, SPSS, and/or Cerner Command Language (CCL).

  • Ability and willingness to learn new analytic tools, methodologies, and Information Systems to be identified as part of SRAlab’s future analytics applications toolset.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
