Job description

Summary:
Maximizes play on the golf course by checking in players at the specified time, ensuring they have the appropriate information to proceed to the tee, observing gaps and openings of nine-hole pick-up times.
Monitors golf courses in accordance with policies and procedures set forth and provides a measure of security for members and their guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following;
  • Greets members and guests, confirms tee times and provides pace of play information.
  • Checks in members and guests and directs them to the appropriate tee at the appropriate time.
  • Marks tee sheet after checking-in players.
  • Marks turn times for first nine holes and for eighteen holes. Maintains turn times for all groups.
  • Records fleet cart numbers and relays information to the GPS Operator.
  • Contacts the GPS Operator and Rangers on pace of play of lead groups and coordinates efforts to ensure that they are on pace.
  • Reports open times to the Golf Center.
  • Ensures that group in "on-deck circle" is ready to play.
  • Records changes to the tee sheets and coordinates with the Golf Center and Ranger.
  • Maintains beverage station.
  • Monitors driving range for dress code violations and enforces all policies and procedures.
  • Follows all established starting time procedures and coordinate activities with Starter on other shifts.
  • Post all course conditions and monitors and guides the Ranger staff.
  • Assists in the drafting of Infraction Reports and follows all checklists.
  • Maintains all First Aid kits for Starter's tent and Ranger staff.
  • Assists Golf Center as needed.
  • Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the First Assistant Senior Golf Professional.
  • Maintains constant radio communication with Starters, the Golf Center, the Bag Room and GPS Operators.
  • Checks course conditions for the day.
  • Complete the daily checklists for the appropriate shifts.
  • Completes the daily tracking report.
  • Monitors and reconciles all play to match tee sheets and changes throughout day.
  • Monitors and maintains all comfort stations with proper levels of ice, cups and lids.
  • Reports any comfort station or trash problems immediately.
  • Ensures all emergency phones are in proper working order.
  • Monitors for course care and assists in upkeep.
  • Administers established education training programs.

  • Enforces all policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Requires knowledge of the game of golf and etiquette.
  • Must be able to work out of doors and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Private country club experience is preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate well in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:

Must have valid driver license.

The employee must be able to write color coded details identifying red flags observing golfers at varying distances and indentifying approaching golf carts from different directions.
