Role: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant

POP: 12+ months Contract

Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site in Annapolis, MD)

JOB SCOPE:

The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The Administrator will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.


REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Bachelor's degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator
  • Certification must be issued by Red Hat and include a valid certification number.
  • Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.
  • Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
  • Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below:
  • Oracle WebLogic Servers
  • Oracle Database Servers
  • Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge
  • Apache Web Servers
  • vSphere hosted RHEL Servers.
  • Rubrik backup systems.
  • Oracle Database backups.
  • PeopleSoft
  • Mobius
  • Elastic Search

  • CVS (Concurrent Version System)
  • Red Hat performance tuning.

TASKS :

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
  • Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.
  • Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
  • Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
  • Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
  • Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
  • Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.

  • A copy of bachelor's degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field
  • A copy of the Resource's Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator certification
  • 3 references for 3 different projects with similar experience
