Job description

Linux System Administrator

Seeking a Linux Systems Administrator with experience supporting Red Hat Linux in a 24x7 environment. This position will be responsible for supporting IT infrastructure, focusing on production systems in Geoscience, Engineering, and ERP areas. The successful candidate will work closely with the business and other IT groups to ensure alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Linux (6/7/8) in a virtualized Linux environment
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and resolve failures and critical alerts on Linux servers
  • Maintain security for all Linux systems
  • Write and troubleshoot Linux shell scripts as necessary
  • Collaborate with Oracle DBAs to ensure maximum uptime for business critical databases
  • Collaborate with application business analysts to ensure success and availability for business critical applications
  • After hours and weekend work may be required to minimize business disruption.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required. Concentration in IT related field preferred
  • 3+ yearsโ€™ experience administering Red Hat Linux in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with Ansible for configuration management
  • Experience administering Red Hat Satellite for server deployment and management
  • Understanding of Active Directory/SSSD/Kerberos for system security and authentication
  • Understanding of HPC schedulers and launch scripts a plus
  • Understanding of IT controls and audit concerns
  • Strong collaboration and verbal and written communication skills
