Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Engineer Location: Colorado Springs, CO Schedule: Full-time | Onsite 5 days per week Clearance: Active Secret clearance required Salary Range: $120,000-$125,000 annually The Opportunity We are hiring a Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Engineer to support secure, mission-critical federal systems. This is a senior hands-on engineering role combining deep RHEL expertise with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, automation, system integration, DevOps, and cloud technologies. You'll lead the deployment and management of highly available OpenShift environments, automate infrastructure operations, strengthen security, and help ensure critical platforms remain resilient and scalable. This position is onsite five days per week in Colorado Springs, Colorado and requires an active Secret clearance. What You'll Do * Architect and deploy containerized applications using Red Hat OpenShift, with a focus on performance and scalability. * Lead the deployment, administration, and optimization of multi-cluster OpenShift environments across production and development, supporting 99.99% uptime. * Automate OpenShift cluster provisioning and scaling to accelerate deployments and reduce manual errors. * Transition OpenShift cluster operations from connected to partially disconnected environments while maintaining the ability to deploy critical security updates. * Implement and optimize monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana for real-time application and infrastructure visibility. * Build and maintain automation for system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment. * Integrate Red Hat Satellite to support patch management and system updates across multiple environments. * Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated application deployment and testing in cloud environments. * Configure and manage RHEL network services, including DNS, DHCP, and NFS. * Perform kernel tuning and system optimization to improve reliability and performance. * Implement and manage security controls using SELinux and firewall configurations. * Apply cloud security best practices involving Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, and network security. * Monitor and optimize cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency. * Develop and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies for critical systems. * Perform root cause analysis of system failures and implement corrective actions designed to prevent recurrence. * Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and maintain technical documentation to strengthen team expertise in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Manager and Kubernetes administration. * Perform additional assigned responsibilities as needed. What You'll Bring * An active Secret clearance. * U.S. citizenship. Due to federal requirements, candidates with dual citizenship cannot be considered. * 12+ years of experience, including 7+ years working directly with RHEL. * A career history demonstrating clear progression in RHEL engineering. * 4+ years of hands-on Red Hat OpenShift experience. * Demonstrated experience focused on system integrations and DevOps. * Ability to work onsite five days per week in Colorado Springs, CO. * Ability to reside within a commutable distance to support required participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
