Pay Range: $25-$30/hour
The Job: Are you a great trainer with the ability to inspire and motivate others? If so, this might be the role for you! As a Lifeguard Instructor you will be responsible for supporting our campus certification needs for Red Cross courses. You will work with the Aquatics Manager or other department heads regarding course scheduling, skill evaluations, or skill review. In this position you will prepare and implement all Red Cross Certified course work for the following trainings: Lifeguard course, CPR/AED, First Aid, etc. As a Lifeguard Instructor you will be responsible for observing and directing all class participants, providing feedback and appropriate corrections as per Red Cross guidelines and Aquatics Management direction.

The Core Duties:
  • Work with management to schedule Lifeguard classes ongoing
  • Work with management to schedule First Aid, CPR, and AED courses as needed
  • Plan skill reviews that may be in-water or on dry-land, select appropriate drills and evaluate the skill
  • Effectively communicate each student's progress to the student and parent, guardian, or manager
  • Assist in the development, implementation and marketing of courses

The Essentials:
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification - Required
  • Lifeguard Training Certification - Required
  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification - Required
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Certification - Required
  • Individual must be dynamic, enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, personable and have the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • 1+ years of experience being an American Red Cross Instructor preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service-oriented commitment to safety
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (written and oral)
  • Must have the ability to inspire and motivate others with great people skills
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, organized, with good time management and great follow-up skills
  • Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
