What is a recruiter?

Recruiters are professionals who help organizations find and hire suitable candidates for job openings. They may work internally within a company's human resources department or externally for staffing agencies. Recruiters source candidates, review resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process. Their goal is to match qualified individuals with roles that fit their skills and the employer's needs. Effective recruiters build strong networks and maintain relationships with both employers and job seekers.

What do recruiters do?

The primary role of a recruiter is to match job seekers with job vacancies based on a candidate’s credentials and a company’s needs. A recruiter seeks out qualified candidates, then serves as a liaison between the candidate and the company to meet the demands of both parties regarding job duties and compensation. Recruiters save companies time by weeding out unqualified or unfit job seekers, and they help job seekers by connecting them with opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recruiter, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of talent acquisition strategies, and a background in human resources or business are essential, often supported by a bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and HR certifications such as SHRM or PHR are commonly required. Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building abilities help recruiters stand out in engaging both clients and candidates. These skills are crucial for matching the right talent to organizational needs and ensuring a smooth hiring process.

What are some common challenges recruiters face when sourcing candidates, and how can they overcome them?

Recruiters often face challenges such as finding qualified candidates for hard-to-fill roles, standing out to top talent in a competitive market, and managing a high volume of applications efficiently. To overcome these hurdles, recruiters leverage creative sourcing strategies, utilize advanced applicant tracking systems, and build strong employer branding to attract passive candidates. Additionally, maintaining clear communication with hiring managers and regularly updating sourcing techniques can help ensure a smoother recruitment process.

Job description

Description:

Healthy Hens, Healthy Eggs, Healthy Planet:

At Pete & Gerry's, we were first to do it better, and are still doing it best. For nearly 30 years, we've been on a mission to produce healthy, delicious eggs and partner with family farms for meaningful impact. By raising hens outdoors as nature intended, we stay true to our roots every step of the way by keeping animal welfare, planet-friendly farming practices, and high-quality taste and nutrition at the heart of all we do, so you can always believe in what you buy.

Healthy Together:

At Pete & Gerry’s, we believe that when we care for each other, we all thrive. Across our farms, offices, and communities, we act as one flock — united by respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing what’s right. We create an environment where every person feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow, because our success depends on the wellbeing of the people who make our mission possible.

The Role at a Glance:

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Recruiter to provide dedicated Talent Acquisition support across our four manufacturing facilities for approximately three months.

This role will focus exclusively on plant staffing and high-volume recruiting, helping our Local HR teams quickly identify, attract, screen, and hire qualified candidates for frontline and operational positions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on recruiting experience in a manufacturing environment, is comfortable managing a high volume of openings and candidates, and can quickly build relationships with plant leaders and HR teams. This is a highly execution-focused role for someone who knows how to move quickly, stay organized, and consistently deliver results in a fast-paced staffing environment.

How You’ll Create Greater Impact:

  • Provide dedicated recruiting support across four manufacturing facilities, with primary responsibility for frontline and      operational staffing needs.
  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle, from requisition intake and sourcing through screening, interview coordination, selection, offer, and pre-employment steps.
  • Partner closely with Local HR teams and plant leaders to understand staffing needs, priorities, schedules, and hiring      requirements.
  • Manage multiple open requisitions simultaneously and prioritize recruiting activity based on business and staffing needs.
  • Develop and maintain active candidate pipelines for high-volume and hard-to-fill plant positions.
  • Proactively source candidates through job boards, social media, community partnerships, referrals, recruiting events, and      other channels.
  • Conduct high-volume candidate outreach, phone screens, and initial assessments.
  • Coordinate interviews and maintain consistent communication with candidates and hiring teams throughout the process.
  • Help reduce time-to-fill and improve staffing levels by proactively identifying and addressing recruiting bottlenecks.
  • Partner with Local HR teams to ensure a consistent, efficient, and positive candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate and timely candidate and requisition information within the ATS/recruiting system.
  • Track recruiting activity, pipeline health, hiring progress, and other key recruiting metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to HR and plant leadership regarding open positions, candidate pipelines, challenges, and hiring      progress.
  • Participate in targeted recruiting events.

What You’ll Bring to the Flock:

We are one team — united by respect and a shared commitment to doing what’s right. What we do every day connects to something bigger. You’ll bring your experience, perspective, and pride in your work. We value collaboration, curiosity, and diverse viewpoints — because they make our flock stronger.

  • 3+ years  of recruiting experience, with significant experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, distribution, food production, or other operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume recruiting and multiple open requisitions simultaneously.
  • Experience recruiting for hourly/frontline manufacturing positions.
  • Proven ability to source, screen, and move a high volume of candidates through the recruiting process.
  • Experience partnering directly with hiring managers and HR teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience recruiting for roles requiring shift work, weekends, or non-traditional schedules.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing hiring needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with an ATS/recruiting system, specifically Paylocity.

Tending to our Flock:

We care for our people the same way we care for our hens — with attention, respect, and balance. Our benefits are designed to support real life and whole wellbeing.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid sick time
  • Paid volunteer time
  • 9 paid holidays
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Disability and life insurance
  • Opportunities for advancement

  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Health Reimbursement Account
  • Footwear reimbursement for onsite employees
  • Onsite employees receive free eggs weekly; remote employees receive coupons for free eggs
