PRN Weekend Recreational Therapist

Job Summary:

As a PRN Weekend Recreational Therapist with Progressive PHP of Seaside Health System, you will play a vital role in providing recreational therapy services to our patients on a weekend basis. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional care and creating a supportive environment for our patients to achieve their goals. This is a per-diem position, with flexibility to work weekends, Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care through recreational therapy and leisure services, including daytime, evening, indoor, outdoor, and holiday events

  • Conduct patient assessments to determine level of functioning, leisure independence, and recreational interests

  • Organize and implement regular group activities to facilitate social integration and leisure time activities

  • Document patient's course in treatment, progress, and response to treatment

  • Participate as an active member of the inter-disciplinary treatment team in patient care conferences, charting, and informal updates

  • Maintain current certification in CPR and CPI

  • Assist in coordination of the operation of the Recreational Therapy department of the facility

  • Supervise and orient Therapeutic Recreational intern students when needed

  • Collect, analyze, and present quality assurance data for the activity department

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate / Equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited college/university

  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be computer literate

  • Must be willing to help others, take directions well, and accept constructive criticism

  • Occasional transportation of patients to afternoon outings in company vehicle

Essential Job Duties: (Percentage of Time)

  • Provides patient care through recreational therapy and leisure services (40%)

  • Provides treatment planning and documentation of care (30%)

  • Maintains an appropriate level of psychiatric theories and practices (10%)

  • Assists in coordination of the operation of the Recreational Therapy department of the facility (15%)

  • Other duties as assigned/required (5%)

Guidance Requirement: Direct supervision given with specific/detailed instructions provided.

Physical Effort Requirement: Frequent/strenuous physical effort (e.g., lifting, moving heavy objects, etc.)
