Description

ย The City of Edgewater is seeking polite and professional part-time Recreation Assistant - Facilities to help with the front desk operations at the Fitness Center. Edgewater is a city of approximately 5,000 residents nestled between the cities of Denver, Wheat Ridge, and Lakewood. The primary responsibility of the Recreation Assistant - Facilities ย is to provide excellent customer service to guests of the Edgewater Civic Center which houses the Fitness Center, Police Department, Public Library, and City Administrative Offices. The Recreation Assistant - Facilities is responsible for the supervision of facility functions and performs a variety of routine manual and clerical functions including greeting guests, program registrations, facility reservations, cash handling, light cleaning and managing incoming calls. In addition, the Recreation Assistant - Facilities ย will ensure that facility rules and safety standards are followed by guests. The Recreation Assistant - Facilities typically works 10 - 29 hours per week.ย 


We are looking for a candidate to work from 5:30am - 10am. Candidates with flexible schedules are preferred as the work schedule varies to provide proper coverage and meet business needs. Current Civic Center hours are Monday to Thursday from 6 am to 8 pm, Friday from 6 am to 7 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm.ย 

Requirements

Demonstrates a high level of guest service and helps create an environment where guest service is a priority.

Acts as the initial contact to greet and welcome guests of the Edgewater Civic Center.

Answers inquiries related to recreation, police, library, and City services, and directs guests appropriately.

Receives and processes monetary transactions for rental reservations, membership purchases, daily check-ins, and other payments.

Provides correct change and documentation of payment.

Reconciles cash drawer to daily receipt reports.

Follows established guidelines concerning facility operations such as use policies, emergency procedures, guest supervision and revenue receipt.

Assists with processing of incoming and outgoing phone calls.

Keeps front desk and lobby area tidy and presentable with all necessary materials (pens, forms, paper, etc.).

Handles high stress situations and difficult customers with tact and professionalism.

Addresses guest complaints and filters them to the appropriate administrative staff member.

Learns and uses Civic Plus recreation software.ย 

Communicates effectively and efficiently with Specialists and Recreation Coordinator - Facilities.

Performs light facility maintenance.

Performs facility setup for classes, programs, and meetings as needed.

Performs daily facility checks and informs supervisors of maintenance issues.

Supervises patrons and ensures safe use of facilities. Maintains security of facility. Reports vandalism and theft.ย 

Maintains a positive attitude, takes initiative, and works as a cohesive team with all staff members to ensure efficiency and camaraderie.

Responds to accidents or incidents according to procedures. Effectively handles emergency situations involving fire alarms, CPR and First Aid.

Upholds City and Department policies and procedures as well as applicable laws.ย 

Participates in staff meetings and ongoing training opportunities.

Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator - Facilities.

1) Must have legal authorization to work in the United States of America.

2) Submit and pass a pre-employment background check.ย 

3) Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Basic verbal and written English language skills and grammar to reasonably communicate information with the public and/or complete relevant written documentation required by job activities.

Spanish language skills preferred.

Excellent communication, customer service and problem-solving skills.

The ability to perform multiple functions at once and the ability to handle the public in a friendly and professional manner.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR and AED Certification. ย 

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the operation of a personal computer along with basic Microsoft Office Suite 365.

Use of telephone, calculator, fax machine, and photocopier.

Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills, to maintain effective working relationships with citizens, elected officials, appointing authorities, department heads, appointed boards, employees, and volunteers.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to lift and carry items such as office supplies and equipment, up to 50 pounds, on an occasional basis.ย 

Ability to handle customer complaints in a professional manner.ย
