Job description

Summary of Duties: Assist in providing a diversified comprehensive recreation program for youth and adults, promoting education of present trends in lifetime leisure activities, sound health concepts and better quality of life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Registration/Reservation software to assist with daily operations.
  • Promote, coordinate, instruct and supervise assigned programs.
  • Assist the program coordinators in developing and implementing new programs.
  • Be able and willing to assist the public in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Develop program reports.
  • Responsible for athletic league management, administration, and facilitation. Assist with league scheduling, correspondence and facilitation of tennis leagues, soccer leagues and softball leagues.
  • Assist the program coordinators with management and facilitation of Sunny Dayz Camp in a supervisory role.
  • Assist with coordination of private Recreation Center facility rentals.
  • Develop marketing plans and materials for assigned programs.
  • Assist with operations and programs utilizing campus amenities to include, archery, kayaking, and Texas TreeVentures.
  • Responsible for money handling, cash reports and deposits.
  • Assist front desk staff in answering phones, helping walk-up customers, renting equipment, making reservations and taking program registration.
  • Assist in the development of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on attendance, revenue, usage, marketing effectiveness/cost and cost recovery related to assigned scope.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Action Guide and other Departmental marketing and advertising materials including, but not limited to, fliers, press releases, social media ads, articles, e-mail blasts, etc.
  • Perform facility opening and closing procedures for the Recreation Center and any off-site facility used for programs.
  • May be required to work special events on nights, weekends or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.

Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education:  Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Travel or Tourism preferred.

Experience:  One (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years related experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:  Must possess a Texas driver’s license within the first ninety (90) days of employment and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Computer Skills:  Proficiency in MS Office.

Pre-employment Requirements: Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.
