Department Summary
It is the mission of the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Bridgewater State University to provide varsity, intramural, club and recreational activities to address the needs, interests and capabilities of our students, faculty and staff. All activities are conducted with fair sportsmanlike principles for men and women as mandated by our various sports governing bodies. With service to our campus as a priority, our activities are intended to enhance and be a vital part of the total collegiate experience for all participants.
Position Summary
Oversee and coordinate the day to day operations of the athletic team, including teaching skills and strategies for the specific sport during practice and games in the traditional and non-traditional seasons

Essential Duties
-Oversee and coordinate the day to day operations of the athletic team, including teaching skills and strategies for the specific sport during practice and games in the traditional and non-traditional seasons
Support the club officers operations of the club, through teaching skills and strategies for the Team Club during practices, games, shows and/ or competitions.
- Adhere to and support all rules, conditions and regulations as set forth by Bridgewater State University, the Department of Athletics and Recreation, and any affiliations, pertaining to club.
- Position is contracted for a 9 month term, over the academic year, involving games, practices and competitions.
- Recognize and understand that BSU Club Sports are "student run" organizations. Coaches responsibilities are not to do the administrative tasks of the club, but to help advise, and develop student leaders.
- Attend SSTA payroll training session and successfully utilize online payroll procedures set forth by Bridgewater State University, throughout the contract terms.
- Encourage the development of sportsmanship and positive societal attitudes in all constituents, including club sports members, coaches, and administrative personnel.
- Have knowledge that club sports members are supported in their efforts to meaningfully participate in nonathletic pursuits to enhance their overall educational experience
- Primarily focus on club sports members as a four-year, undergraduate experience
- Support ethnic and gender diversity for all constituents
- Enforce that the actions of coaches and administrators exhibit fairness, openness and honesty in their relationships with club members
- To act as an advisory body for issues and concerns within the club as well as the Campus Recreation Department
- Understand and promote the University's mission and goals
- Assist in club transportation (via BSU Transportation Vans) if requested by club officers for off campus events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
-Coordinate team logistics with Athletic Department staff and other support personnel such as managers, scorekeepers, etc.
-Adhere to and support all rules, conditions and regulations as set forth by Bridgewater State University, Conference affiliations pertaining to all aspects of the team's management.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of coaching and/or competing experience at-the collegiate level with a strong understanding of lacrosse defensive schemes, tactics, as well as team and individual player skill development
-Film scouting, practice, and gaming planning will be a part of the role. Must be open to learning and growing in the role. Must be able to attend all practices and games.
- Participate in all club sport meetings as requested
- Maintain current knowledge of the issues and legislation surrounding their sport activity and association /
conference levels.
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences (i.e., students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration and community)
-Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as playing and practice season schedule dictates.
-Current certification in First Aid / CPR (AED)
Preferred Qualifications
Valid U.S. driver's license
