Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Extended Care Aide provides a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for students participating in the school's before- and/or after-school extended care program. Working under the direction of the Extended Care Director or Principal, the aide supervises students, assists with activities and homework, and supports the mission of Catholic education by modeling Christian values and fostering a caring community.

 
Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise students during before-school, after-school, and school break extended care programs.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by maintaining appropriate supervision at all times.
  • Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
  • Assist students with homework as appropriate while encouraging responsibility and independence.
  • Maintain a positive, welcoming, and faith-centered environment that reflects Catholic values.
  • Lead students in prayer and model Christian behavior through words and actions.
  • Promote respectful interactions and assist with positive behavior management using school policies.
  • Communicate student concerns, injuries, or behavioral issues promptly to the Extended Care Director, Principal, and parents as appropriate.
  • Maintain attendance records and follow established student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Assist with snack distribution while following school health and allergy guidelines.
  • Keep classrooms and activity areas clean, organized, and ready for daily use.
  • Follow all diocesan and school policies regarding child safety, emergency procedures, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in staff meetings, required training, and professional development opportunities.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with school-age children in a classroom, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.
  • Ability to supervise groups of children while maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and parents.
  • Supportive of the mission, philosophy, and values of Catholic education.
