Description Recreation Aides assist Parks and Recreation staff with daily operations of the Zebulon Community Center, community outreach programs, athletic programs, special events and overseeing facility rentals. Recreation Aides are responsible for providing outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods. Staff will need to be familiar with the facility, various sports and standard operating procedures.

Detailed Work Activities Recreation Aides will be responsible for: Assists with the implementation of various programs including educational/art classes, community outreach programs, special events and sports competitions. Performs administrative duties including responding to patrons, taking program/athletic registrations, setting up and breaking down necessary equipment, design and distribution of marketing materials, etc. Maintains and oversees day-to-day facility operations and cleanliness.

Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance. The position is responsible for ensuring safety and satisfaction of visitors and participants. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements Must be able to perform the basic life operational skills of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift objects. Must possess visual acuity to prepare and analyze written or computer data, depth and color perception, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, observing general surroundings and activities.

Must possess the auditory ability to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.

Desirable Education and Experience: Must be at least 16 years of age CPR/First Aid Certified preferred Valid NC Driver's License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in customer service Excellent oral and written communication skills Well organized, detail oriented, creative and self-motivated Knowledge of recreation programs and sports Ability to multitask and manage time Skill in operating computers and other standard office equipment Skill in interpersonal relations Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships
