Health Information/Quality Improvement Technician

HI/QI Department

Full Time โ€“ Non Exempt

General Summary: Responsible for reviewing, entering, and updating data into the electronic health record (EHR).ย  Maintain a standardized process for monitoring timely and accurate completion of client documentation. ย Assist in providing client registration/health information functions.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, First Shift

Location: Warwick, RI

Pay: Starting at $23/hour

Essential Responsibilities:

ยท Meet with clients to collect client registration information, conduct client orientation.

ยท Assist with daily health information activities including data entry and scanning documents in the EHR

ยท Review recovery plans, assessments, and other clinical documents for completeness, accuracy, and validity; update data in the EHR as necessary.

ยท Process requests for client information; releasing information in accordance with federal and state laws as well as Center policies, standards, and procedures.

ยท Respond to client inquiries and follow rules and regulations related to client confidentiality, privacy and security of records/protected health information (PHI)

ยท Maintain confidentiality of all Center and client information at all times.

ยท Assist in completing quality assurance and compliance activities (i.e. record audits, utilization review)

ยท Complete HI/QI data management projects/reports as assigned

ยท Assists the department in identifying and troubleshooting inconsistencies, trends or compliance issues.

ยท Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with all staff and external sources /stakeholders (i.e. Designated Collaborating Organizations) to coordinate care and support agency goals.

ยท Respond to email and phone inquiries promptly, professionally and accurately.

ยท Create an environment where the integrity and quality of the medical record/electronic health record is preserved.

Additional Responsibilities:

ยท Must attend all agency/department required training and meetings within the prescribed period.

ยท Attend all Safety Training programs and be able to describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department safety, and specific job-related hazards and responsibilities.

Education, Experience and Competencies:

  • High School Diploma or at least 2 years- experience in a medical office or behavioral health setting with electronic medical records. Associate degree in health information technology or human services field (preferred) or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data entry skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle multiple duties, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.

Certifications, Licenses Requirements:

Valid driver license required, or ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the job.
