Summary:

Manufacturing Engineering Student Intern will work with the Engineering, Operations and Continuous Improvement teams assisting in the design, development and implementation of improvement processes to enhance the capacity, quality and efficiency of product flow for the manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Under direction, assist in the mapping and layouts of plant, office, and production equipment in order to provide the maximum utilization of facilities and efficiency of production 
  • Apply Lean principles to optimize work/process flow, set-up time reduction and quick change over 
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new equipment and tools to enhance  
  • Conduct safety audits to identify potential accident and health hazards in work areas 
  • Document standard work including creation of work instructions, recording and analyzing cycle times, and value stream mapping 

Minimum required qualifications:

  • In pursuit of a BA in Engineering or related field
  • At least 1 previous intern rotation in a manufacturing environment or similar training
  • Practical knowledge of continuous improvement and lean concepts
  • Proficiency with MS Office and relevant engineering software
  • In- depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic hardware
  • Highly proficient in reading drawings, sketches and interpreting design ideas

The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally to develop and implement improvement ideas
  • Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills
  • Self directed and detail oriented
  • Basic understanding of reciprocating compressors and the function of major components in the oil & gas industry

Pay will be $21-$25 per hour depending on experience and education. Student interns are not eligible for benefits, holiday pay or paid time off but hours can be flexible to meet a work/school life balance as approved by management.
