Summary

The Material Handler II is responsible for ensuring accurate material flow, work order readiness, and production support for assigned areas. This role audits work orders, summarizes material shortages, and partners closely with production leaders and purchasing to align priorities. In addition, this position provides day to day guidance to material handlers assigned to the area to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•    Audit work orders for accuracy, completeness, and material readiness prior to release.
•    Identify material shortages and use basic Excel skills to summarize shortages at the job or order level.
•    Communicate shortage status, job readiness, and material issues to production leaders.
•    Coordinate daily job priorities with production leadership to ensure materials are staged and ready when needed.
•    Lead and guide material handlers in assigned areas, ensuring tasks are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
•    Support receiving, putaway, picking, and material movement activities as needed.
•    Monitor material flow on the production floor and take proactive actions to prevent interruptions.
•    Manage and support replenishment and flow for Kanban bin systems for production lines
•    Maintain accurate records, labeling, and inventory tracking standards.
•    Assist with root cause analysis of recurring material issues and recommend improvements.
•    Uphold 5S and Lean standards, ensuring assigned areas remain organized and audit ready.
•    Provide training and direction on material handling processes as required.
•    Represent the materials team in daily production or operations meetings.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
•    Strong attention to detail, especially when reviewing work orders and inventory data.
•    Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, simple formulas, generating shortage lists).
•    Effective communication skills for working with production supervisors, planners, and warehouse staff.
•    Ability to lead, coach, and coordinate the work of a small team.
•    Solid understanding of warehouse processes including receiving, putaway, picking, and material flow.
•    Basic computer skills for logging transactions and tracking materials.
•    Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, tuggers) after certification.
Requirements
•    High school diploma or GED.
•    One year of warehouse or material handling experience preferred, including experience in work order or inventory processes.
•    Ability to obtain or maintain certification to operate material handling equipment.
•    Demonstrated ability to organize tasks, prioritize work, and support a production schedule.
