Job description

Auto Reconditioning Technician

Den Kelly Chevrolet GMC, Inc is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto Reconditioning Technician to join our team. The Auto Reconditioning Technician will be responsible for restoring vehicles to like-new condition, performing cosmetic repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles meet the highest quality standards before they are presented for sale. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive reconditioning, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Inspection and Assessment:

  • Perform thorough inspections of incoming vehicles to identify necessary reconditioning and cosmetic repairs.
  • Document and communicate all findings to the Reconditioning Manager and other relevant team members.

Cosmetic Repair and Detailing:

  • Perform cosmetic repairs, including paint touch-ups, buffing, dent removal, and minor bodywork.
  • Conduct interior detailing, including vacuuming, cleaning, and conditioning of upholstery and other surfaces.
  • Restore headlights, repair minor scratches, and perform other reconditioning tasks as needed.
  • Ensure all vehicles are thoroughly cleaned, polished, and restored to like-new condition.

Mechanical Reconditioning:

  • Perform light mechanical repairs as required, such as brake replacements, tire changes, and battery replacements.
  • Ensure that all mechanical work is completed accurately and efficiently.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct final inspections of reconditioned vehicles to ensure they meet dealership quality standards.
  • Address any remaining cosmetic or mechanical issues before vehicles are listed for sale.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure customer satisfaction with the quality of reconditioned vehicles.

Tool and Equipment Management:

  • Properly use and maintain all reconditioning tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe, adhering to all dealership safety protocols.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Reconditioning Manager and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of reconditioning tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with sales and service teams to prioritize work based on sales needs.
