Position

General Ledger (GL) Accountant

About Solugen:

Solugen's mission is to decarbonize chemical manufacturing. As an initial step, Solugen is building its first commercial plant with a capacity of 10,000 tpy, with the potential to offset up to 37,000 tpy of carbon dioxide equivalents.

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting the close process. This role ensures compliance with GAAP and supports financial reporting in a complex chemicals manufacturing environment, including inventory, fixed assets, and plant-related accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close

Perform account reconciliations (balance sheet and select P&L accounts) and resolve variances

Support the monthly close process, ensuring deadlines are met

Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness

Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules

Partner with plant and operations teams on inventory, accruals, and cost allocations

Support accounting for fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation

Assist with inventory accounting, including adjustments and reconciliations

Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies and controls

Support external and internal audits by providing documentation and analysis

Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations

Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

2-5 years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)

Experience in manufacturing, chemicals, or industrial environment preferred

Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger processes

Experience with ERP system- NetSuite

Proficiency in Excel

Skills & Competencies

Solid understanding of account reconciliations and financial reporting
