Job description

As a Retrofit/Recon Technician, you will return cars to factory standards and retrofit vehicles with current updated parts/calibration. 

Salary Overview:
The pay rate for this role starts at $24 per hour based on experience.

Hours:

The hours for this role are Monday through Friday 6am to 2:30pm.

Retrofit and Recon Technician Responsibilities include: 

  • Diagnose issues, noises, vibrations, etc. 
  • Replace worn, broken, or EX parts. 
  • Reflash calibrations/modules back to factory standards. 
  • Install LPO parts and perform PDI (pre-delivery inspection). 
  • Test drive vehicles to ensure the vehicle is road-ready. 
  • Complete paperwork and input hours worked into productivity software. 
  • Complete campaigns and safety bulletins. 
  • Perform routine services as needed. 
  • Scrap vehicle teardown as needed. 
  • Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision. 

Retrofit and Recon Technician Qualifications and Skills:  

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to drive company vehicles at Milford Proving Grounds. 
  • Must be mechanically inclined and own tools or willingness to purchase tools. 
  • Must have familiarity with re-flashing modules and calibrations. 
  • Must have exceptional critical thinking/problem-solving skills. 
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently. 
  • Must be a reliable team player. 
  • Forklift experience is a plus. 

Retrofit and Recon Technician Working Conditions and Physical Demands include: 

  • Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and automotive liquids. 
  • No air conditioning inside the shop area. 
  • Must be okay to work in cramped or confined spaces. 
  • This position is performed both inside a garage and outside so weather conditions may include extreme heat and cold. 
  • This position is continually active and requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and all day. 
  • Must frequently lift and/or move items up to 100 lbs. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Â
