Job description

Role of the Engineering Project Manager

Under general direction, manage various types of projects and programs through all phases of project execution including implementation. Projects include but are not limited to construction, equipment, and sustainability and are aimed at furthering Recology's vision of a world without waste.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provides overall project support to the operations teams (landfill, recycling, composting, and processing facilities) to envision, design, review, and implement projects.
  • Responsible for identifying and assigning project roles and ensuring comprehensive cooperation of the various departments.
  • Coordinates a wide variety of design, permitting, and construction work for facility development and equipment enhancements.
  • Responsible for preparing and tracking project budgets, especially as they relate to vendor contracts, scopes, and pricing.
  • Responsible for developing and managing project timelines.
  • Oversees and provides support to general contractors, engineers, architects, and equipment vendors.
  • Oversees project specific environmental permitting, building permitting, and final project signoffs.
  • Responsible for aligning operational needs and various improvement projects as they relate to the operations group, facilities, and equipment.
  • Responsible for communicating project updates, both verbal and written to the Recology management team.
  • Responsible for coordinating approvals and communicating progress with government officials.
  • Travel may be required for meetings and/or site visits.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years related experience with project management, construction, equipment installation, environmental permitting and regulations related to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • California state and local project permitting and environmental regulations.
  • Project management strategies, tracking and monitoring.
  • Environmental due diligence, investigations and research.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
