Job description

As a Metrology Engineer at Micron Technology Inc. Manassas, Virginia site, you will develop, analyze, and implement metrology measurement techniques. You will work closely with shift support and process/equipment engineering teams on the identification, evaluation, and detection of process and material influences on process control. You will also be responsible for driving Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs) through vendor engagement, assisting in technology transfer activities, defining metrics, providing quality measurement data output, and tracking measurement recipe performance. You will be constantly engaged in the Fab operation and performing tasks to improve quality, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, and/or improve yield. Detailed analysis of next generation measurement capabilities as well as coordinating evolutionary programs with the equipment vendors will be required.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor for and improve measurement variation, impacting CpK performance, OOC rates, and process controllers using Metrology data inputs.
  • Employ statistical process control and data analysis methods to observe measurement recipe performance, pinpoint areas needing improvement, and put solutions into action.
  • Participate in and perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies for assigned workstations. Work with area representatives for defining appropriate studies and compiling results using defined templates.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how current processes are affected by and impact both upstream and downstream process steps, including interactions with process controllers.
  • Engage with Process and Product Integration teams to improve inline detection capabilities and provide recommendations for measurement recipe optimizations, new measurement possibilities, and improved data output and utilization.
  • Continuously improve the Reaction Mechanisms and Procedures based on feedback from end-users, including support of the Periodic Document Review (PDR) process.
  • Support Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) Documentation requirements, including 1-Pt Lessons and SPC Analysis Reports.
  • Apply recognized methodologies and procedures (Fishbone, 5 Why's, 8D, etc.) for defining problem statements, outlining key distinctions, and identifying appropriate corrective and preventative actions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics related field - or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in semiconductor metrology methodologies including spectroscopy, scatterometry, SEM imaging, and/or films analysis.
  • Familiarity with DOE, SPC, and data analysis including use of applications such as JMP for analyzing and plotting data.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, change management, or continuous improvement methodologies.
