Summary
The Sr. RDA Equipment Applications Engineer is responsible for owning and optimizing real-time defect analysis (RDA) toolsets, including recipe development, stability monitoring, tool performance improvement, and advanced application support. This role supports both day-to-day operations and long-term capability enhancement through data analysis, multi-functional collaboration, and close partnership with equipment vendors. The engineer ensures high-quality recipe execution, drives tool reliability, and enables robust defect-monitoring capability across the fab.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, validate, and maintain POR and engineering recipes for assigned RDA toolsets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with area requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong application ownership by understanding tool theory, performing advanced recipe setup, and maintaining backup knowledge of secondary tools.
  • Monitor recipe requests, maintain documentation, and ensure completion and communication of updates.
  • Perform basic and advanced tool recoveries, lead software upgrades, and implement improvements with internal teams and vendors.
  • Establish and track SPC charts, analyze tool data, and drive corrective actions and performance-improvement opportunities.
  • Create and update procedures for tool operation and recipe development, and train engineers and technicians on protocols.
  • Participate in global tool-sharing forums, follow up on cross-site actions, and collaborate with vendors on issues, root-cause analysis, and tool audits.
  • Maintain strong vendor communication aligned with Micron business ethics, tracking application issues, long-term solutions, and tool readiness.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within the semiconductor industry in a defect analysis role with a solid foundation in inline defect analysis
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor fabrication process flows with a consistent track record to drive issues to root cause with standard data analysis and engineering trouble-shooting; Statistical process control - data analysis, SPC, process capability
  • Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry, specifically process development for defect inspection equipment/applications
  • 3+ years of experience in a defect inspection applications role with advanced applications recipe writing experience - strong preference to KLA/AMAT advanced toolsets
  • Experience driving cross-site alignment or global best-known-method (BKM) sharing for inspection applications. Excellent technical presentation and communication skill with a demonstrated ability to lead multiple tool responsibilities with high attention to detail and prioritization
