Receptionist Temp information

What is a receptionist temp?

Receptionist temps are temporary workers who fill in as front desk receptionists for organizations on a short-term basis. They handle tasks such as answering phones, greeting visitors, managing appointments, and performing basic administrative duties. Companies often hire receptionist temps to cover staff absences, busy periods, or special projects. These roles typically require strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to quickly adapt to new environments. Temporary receptionist assignments can range from a few days to several weeks or months, depending on the employer's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a receptionist temp?

To thrive as a Receptionist Temp, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic administrative qualifications such as familiarity with office procedures. Proficiency in office software like Microsoft Office Suite and experience with phone systems or scheduling tools are typically required. Excellent verbal communication, professionalism, and adaptability make someone stand out in this fast-paced, client-facing role. These abilities ensure efficient office operations, a positive first impression for visitors, and seamless support for the team during temporary assignments.

What are the typical challenges a receptionist temp might face when adapting to new workplace environments?

As a Receptionist Temp, one common challenge is quickly learning new office protocols, phone systems, and company cultures since assignments can frequently change. You'll need to adapt rapidly, often with minimal training, and remain organized while managing multiple tasks such as greeting visitors, handling calls, and supporting administrative staff. Strong communication skills and a flexible attitude are essential for thriving in fast-paced or unfamiliar settings. Being proactive in asking questions and taking notes can help ease the transition and ensure you deliver excellent service.

The main difference between a Receptionist Temp and a Receptionist is the employment duration and stability. A Receptionist Temp works on short-term assignments through staffing agencies, offering flexibility but less job security. A Receptionist is a permanent employee within a company, providing consistent support and benefits. Both roles require similar skills, but their employment terms and work environments differ significantly.

How can I work as a receptionist temp with no experience?

To work as a receptionist temp with no experience, focus on developing basic communication and organizational skills, and highlight any customer service or administrative tasks you've performed. Entry-level temp agencies often provide on-the-job training, and having a professional resume that emphasizes reliability and a positive attitude can improve your chances of securing a temporary receptionist position.

What type of receptionist temp gets paid the most?

The highest-paid receptionist temps typically have specialized skills such as bilingual abilities, experience with advanced office software, or industry-specific knowledge. Temporary receptionists with prior experience in high-demand sectors like healthcare or legal offices often command higher rates. Certifications in office administration can also contribute to increased pay.

Who We Are

For more than 50 years, CLV Group has specialized in building vibrant communities that our residents across Canada are proud to call home. Our standard of excellence is no accident - it's driven entirely by our amazing people.

Our dynamic, integrated real estate platform spans investments, acquisitions, development, asset management, property management and corporate services. At CLV Group we're expanding quickly, investing boldly, and building for the future. If you're looking to develop a meaningful career with extraordinary potential, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Role

At CLV Group, exceptional service is shaped by every interaction. We are looking for someone truly special to serve as a welcoming and dependable point of connection for our residents, employees, partners and guests, while helping us deliver the experience our communities have come to expect.

We are seeking a receptionist who is much more than a greeter. This person will be a champion of our brand and culture, a trusted resource for our team and a caring, capable presence for everyone who connects with our office.

If you are a genuinely kind person who radiates positivity, builds trust naturally and takes pride in helping others while keeping an office running smoothly, you may be exactly who we are looking for.

This is a full time, fixed term position expected to begin immediately and continue until November 30, 2026, with the possibility of renewal. The role is based in our office five days a week.

The position focuses on customer service, office administration and day to day coordination, with some support provided to our leasing, community programming, parking and maintenance teams. During this temporary assignment, you will help keep the office organized, provide reliable coverage and ensure residents, employees and visitors receive friendly and timely assistance.

Responsibilities will include:

Reception and Visitor Support

  • Welcome residents, contractors, candidates, vendors and guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Ensure visitors are connected with the appropriate employee or team
  • Maintain an organized, welcoming and professional reception area
  • Represent CLV Group positively and professionally in every interaction

Communication and Inquiry Support

  • Answer and direct incoming calls, responding to general inquiries or connecting callers with the appropriate team
  • Monitor shared inboxes and direct messages to the appropriate employees
  • Follow up on outstanding inquiries when needed to help ensure requests are addressed
  • Provide basic information and assistance to residents, employees and visitors

Office Administration

  • Sort and distribute mail and courier deliveries and coordinate outgoing shipments
  • Monitor and order office supplies, kitchen items, snacks and printed materials
  • Keep reception areas, meeting rooms and shared office spaces organized and ready for use
  • Assist with meetings, office activities and employee events as needed
  • Provide general administrative support to teams across the organization

Leasing and Resident Support

  • Assist the leasing team with applications, payments and applicant follow up
  • Help residents with in person payments and general account inquiries
  • Direct more complex questions to the appropriate employee and help coordinate follow up
  • Provide a friendly and organized experience for prospective and current residents

Maintenance Support

  • Help residents submit maintenance requests through the Resident Portal
  • Notify the appropriate property team when additional attention is required
  • Direct urgent concerns to the appropriate employee promptly
  • Remain calm, helpful and professional when assisting with service issues

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in reception, office administration, customer service or a related role is preferred, but not required. We are happy to provide the training and support you need to succeed.
  • Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in any additional language is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, organization and follow through
  • Sound judgement and the ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion
  • A friendly, professional and service focused approach
  • The ability to learn routines quickly, manage competing priorities and provide dependable support throughout the temporary assignment

Most importantly, we are a small but mighty team. This is a role for someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves, take initiative and help wherever needed. We are looking for a team member who will contribute to our collective success and who can expect that same support from us in return.

This is an in-person position - but we bet you could have guessed this already! Working from our office five days a week will also give you the opportunity to build strong relationships with colleagues, learn from experienced professionals and contribute to a highly engaged team. For the right person, this is an opportunity to make a visible difference every day.

Additional Information

We are a growing team - this is a roll up your sleeves and jump in where you're needed type of role. Our people are at the heart of what we do. Working at CLV Group means working in a supportive environment rooted in community and collaboration.

Final compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, education, professional designations, internal equity, and job-related requirements. We welcome candidates at all stages of their career and value the diverse experiences and contributions everyone brings to CLV Group. This is a full-time, in-office role based in our office 5 days per week, providing the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues, learn from experienced professionals and contribute within an engaging, high-performing team environment.
