Cold Lake is an in-situ oil sands operation in northern Alberta. Sitting on a large, high-quality resource base, the operation is using and piloting next-generation solvent technologies that can improve production and lower greenhouse gas emissions intensity.

Cold Lake is one of the longest running oil sands operations in northeastern Alberta and one of the largest in-situ thermal operations in the world. The operation supplies refineries across Canada and the United States with the crude needed to create fuel, asphalt and other important products. The site's past success and current strength stem from the skills, commitment and passion of the site's workforce, made up of approximately 400 employees and 1,000 contractors including from Indigenous-owned businesses. In 2025, gross production at Cold Lake averaged 151,000 barrels per day.  

If you are passionate about safety, building positive relationships, and working within a collaborative team environment, then we have the role for you!  We currently have an opportunity within our Cold Lake asset in the Upstream division supporting and leading reliability programs for our site.

As a Reliability Engineer, you'll play a key role in helping equipment and systems operate safely, efficiently, and dependably. You'll work alongside operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for improvement, solve technical challenges, and reduce equipment failures before they occur. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate who enjoys problem-solving, data analysis, continuous improvement, and making a visible impact on business performance.

• Work with multi-functional engineering, operations, and maintenance teams, both in Canada and overseas, to support our reliability programs.
• Analyze equipment performance and failure trends to identify reliability issues and recommend practical solutions that improve safety, uptime, and efficiency.
• Support root cause investigations for equipment failures and operational issues, working with cross-functional teams to determine causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain reliability strategies including condition monitoring programs for critical assets.
• Use data and performance metrics to track equipment health, identify improvement opportunities, and support asset management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Opportunities for growth (e.g. training, mentorship, studies/projects, other engineering or asset team roles)

• Canadian accredited (or equivalent) engineering degree
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and safe driving record
• Able to work individually, as well as in a team situation, with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to safety on and off the job

• Strong desire to contribute to a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for the role
• Creative, committed, dependable individuals who are energized by working with people and by achieving superior results
• Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
