Description

The Receiving Department Team Lead is responsible for managing the daily operations of the receiving team, ensuring efficient and accurate handling of incoming goods. This role involves supervising and mentoring team members, overseeing receiving processes, and actively participating in hands-on tasks as needed. The Team Lead will also perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager to support overall departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of receiving associates, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and adherence to company standards.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the receiving process, including the inspection, verification, and documentation of incoming shipments. Ensure that all goods are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Hands-On Involvement: Actively participate in receiving tasks when necessary, including unloading shipments, inspecting products, and managing inventory. Demonstrate flexibility by stepping into various roles as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety within the receiving department. Implement best practices and recommend changes to improve operations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all receiving activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular safety checks and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Training and Development: Provide training to new and existing team members on receiving procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of received goods, discrepancies, and any issues encountered. Prepare and submit reports to the Manager as required.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Receiving Manager to support the overall goals of the receiving department and warehouse operations.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse or receiving operations, with at least 1 year in a team lead role.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with receiving procedures, inventory management systems, and safety regulations. Ability to handle various tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
